PinkFantasy Returns with the Haunting “기괴한 이야기 : Get Out”
It’s been over a year since we’ve had a comeback from PinkFantasy. The previous release, “Poison,” still remains one of our favorite K-Pop releases to this day, so we were obviously quite excited to see another dark-themed single on the horizon. “Poison” was definitely an ambitious and risky release given horror-influenced concepts don’t always appeal to the masses, so it’s not a surprise that that was toned down slightly for the new single release.
“기괴한 이야기 : Get Out” has a softer sound in comparison, going with a more haunting pop sound as the main melody for the track. It’s kind of hard to place the exact musical influences and is best described as an eerie music box type of track, filled with accidentals in the vocals to drive home the otherworldly feel. If you came looking for hard rock, you won’t find it here, but this softer yet dark sound fits the group quite well still. There’s no real drop, giving the song a fairly consistent feel throughout. It’s a perfect Halloween track in its own right.
The music video is fairly simple, with most focus on the choreography shots of the girls in simple black or white dresses. The darker concept is highlighted by gothic furniture adorning the set and sepia tone filters. The simplicity and lack of color definitely lends itself to the aimed creepy concept. Indeed, the video is plain, but the story is told artfully through that plainness.
