VERIVERY Shows a More Refreshing Side with “Tap Tap”

In their time on the K-Pop scene, VERIVERY has shown us many different sides and mastered many different genres. In the recent past, they’ve been going for more intense concepts, but this latest single release brings back the boyish and refreshing feel the group debuted with in 2019.

“Tap Tap” is an upbeat track that takes inspiration from pop-punk and has a unique composition in that it almost sounds like it should be two different songs that are mashed together into one. The verses and the chorus have two different tempos and overall musical composition, which can make for a bit of a jarring first listen since it’s rather unexpected. While the verses have a mid-tempo and quirky feel with an addition of an electric guitar, the chorus switches to a much heavier pop feel and a faster tempo. The track becomes more cohesive with every listen, but it does cause surprise at first.

With the video, you get a visual of the more boyish and silly side of the boys, highlighted by the use of bright pinks, yellows, and greens in the sets. The video opens with the members jumping on a bright yellow couch and the song title in the center written in the same font as the popular TV show Friends, which gives you an idea of the playful nature of the video. The additional animations added sparsely in the video give a sense of lively youth. The fun-loving nature of the video makes for a bright and happy viewing, and will certainly brighten even the rainiest days.
