ARTBEAT’s Magical Debut
ARTBEAT made their debut under UniqueTunes Records and AB Creative with their first mini-album on November 16. Prior to the debut of this seven-member girl group, the Korea-based co-ed crew specialized in dance and video production. This girl group marks their first venture into K-Pop, using the same name as their YouTube channel. All members are of Korean nationality, with the oldest being 24 and the youngest being 20. The debut mini-album, MAGIC, consists of one title track and four B-sides.
Tracklist:
“Fantasize”
“MAGIC”
“Aphrodite (Rule The World)”
“ILYSB”
“Crystal”
The album kicks off with “Fantasize,” a cool instrumental track that creates a slightly mysterious atmosphere, setting the tone for what’s to come. Next up is the title track, “MAGIC.” The song is a mesh of pop and trap with simple lyrics that welcome listeners into ARTBEAT’s “new world.” It’s your standard performance track with the perfect opportunity for a dance break during the bridge. This isn’t too surprising when we consider the group's dance roots.
The album then transitions into “Aphrodite (Rule The World).” ARTBEAT kicks off the track by demonstrating their rap skills and continue on to sing about the goddess of love and beauty. “Aphrodite (Rule The World)” follows a similar pattern to “MAGIC,” as there are constant trap breakdowns throughout the song, which can be slightly disorienting. The fourth track, “ILYSB,” is about a love so strong it makes you feel alive. The title is an acronym for “I love you so bad” and these lyrics repeat throughout the song as ARTBEAT show off their captivating harmonies. It’s a bright dance track and my personal favorite from the album.
For the fifth and final track, ARTBEAT shines like a “Crystal.” The seven members maintain a cheerful vibe as they sing about lighting up the world in a spectrum of dazzling colors. Overall, the debut mini-album maintains an upbeat mood and provides listeners a solid introduction to the dance collective’s very first K-Pop group. If all goes well, we may be seeing more debuts from the co-ed cover team in the future!
