Super Junior “Celebrate” in New Winter Release

Super Junior has returned with their Christmas album The Road : Celebration, released on December 15, 2022. It comes just over five months after The Road : Keep on Going, released July 12, 2022. The title track, “Celebrate,” was written by Kang Eunjeong, while Christian Fast and Gabriel Brandes composed the song alongside Henrik Nordenback, who also arranged it.

Tracklist:

  1. “Celebrate”

  2. “Hate Christmas”

  3. “Snowman”

  4. “White Love (스키장에서)”

  5. “너였으면 참 좋겠다… (If only you) (Special Track)”

The album has five tracks, including the ballad of dreams “너였으면 참 좋겠다… (If only you)." "I Wish it Was You… (If only you),” the English title, is an unreleased track from 2012 by Super Junior-K.R.Y. and was remastered for this album. Sung by Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung, this sad song really might make you “K.R.Y.,” as the lyrics tell of a one-sided Christmas love.

A remake of Turbo’s classic hit song “White Love” from 1996 is an energetic song about innocent love. Super Junior's version, however, is titled “White Love (스키장에서),” meaning “at the ski resort” in English. Despite also being remastered following the 2022 trends, the message stays the same: let’s welcome winter with open arms as it takes us into a new universe of pure happiness.

Meanwhile, acoustic track “Snowman” keeps listeners grounded with a “thank you” message from a snowman. If you’re lucky enough to live among the snow during Christmas, then you might have also built a few snow creatures in your time! The next time you build one, give it a smile and say “thank you” for those happy (and freezing) childhood memories.

Hate Christmas” may sound dismissive of the festive holidays, but it actually shows us the chaos surrounding the holiday. Everyone knows the struggle of finding the perfect present, waiting in those long lines, cooking Christmas dinner, and decorating, but all of that goes away when you’re spending Christmas alone. This song shares a heart-wrenching story about losing someone after so many loving Christmases together. Though, with everything there is to hate about Christmas, there’s much more to love within its memory.

The song that brings Super Junior’s eleventh album together is title track “Celebrate.” In the music video, you can clearly see the joy of the children playing in the snow and discovering a new world upon entering a fort. Meanwhile, the members look fondly at them while reliving their own memories of young love and receiving presents. It shows that no matter your age, anyone can have fun at Christmastime! There is always something to celebrate, and for us, it’s receiving the greatest presents: a new album, a new song, and our favorite idols having holiday fun!
