ITZY are Bold in Latest Comeback with “Cheshire”

ITZY have made their return and they are asking fans, “Why so serious?” CHESHIRE is the latest mini-album for the girl group with the title track of the same name. After having a solid year with their world tour and a handful of other releases, the girls of ITZY aren’t stopping any time soon.

“Cheshire” is an upbeat dance pop track with a catchy chorus and funky beats that keep listeners captivated through the whole song. The vocals are particularly strong in this comeback from the girls, especially from member and leader Yeji, who is backed with strong rap verses from Ryujin. The sound for this title track is a bit different compared to previous titles, but the group was excited to try it out and Ryujin even expressed in a correspondence with NextShark that she loved the song right away. The group debuted the song live for the first time at this year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards

The lyrics that ask “Why so serious?” and “Why so curious?” are about taking things as they come and not over-complicating life, which fit the theme of the music video. As seen in the video, the group is shown on the set of a reality game show called Fake or True? The video is full of bright and colorful aesthetics that also showcase the girls’ bold visuals. The choreography is also a bit different than previous titles, but it’s a fierce dance that fits the style of the song. The dance practice has already been released, as well.

The rest of the album features three B-sides, including two new tracks, “Snowy'' and “Freaky,” as well as the pre-release single “Boys Like You.”
