Taeyeon's most recent comeback “INVU” is setting the bar high for 2022 beauty trends. The SM Entertainment artist just released her third album, INVU, on Valentine’s Day, dropping the title track and its music video with the same name.

“INVU” is a house-based pop dance song with a soft and dreamy synth sound and an impressive flute melody in the chorus. This already sets the mood for the whole album, the visuals, and its inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology. 

The aesthetic of the music video and teaser images are very artistic. Bringing classical elements into an ethereal future-forward ambiance, which is all perfectly reproduced in the makeup looks as well. Taeyeon manages to look like a perfectly defined sculpture, a warrior, and a goddess all in one. 

The title itself already shows a freshness in simplicity through using four letters for the sentence “I envy you.” This duality of “minimal but extra” is something that will be big in 2022 beauty trends, and the music video for “INVU” is the perfect example of how to make this concept work. The look’s base is soft, but then plays around with graphic elements, lines, dots, stones, and stickers to show there is no limit to everyday creativity. Although the accessories might be a bit too much for everyday streetwear, we are in 2022, so you can wear whatever you want to the grocery store—within respectful boundaries of course. We can’t go without mentioning Taeyeon’s nails either, which are like pieces of art themselves that match the painted fantasy world of “INVU” (Kwangya?).
