Wonho Oozes Crazy Charisma with Facade
Wonho has certainly made his mark in K-Pop as one of the most consistent and alluring male solo acts, and third mini-album Facade is another treat for fans who can’t get enough of the singer-songwriter’s artistry.
A Multifaceted Artist
The mini-album, which was released on June 13, features five tracks, including a Korean version of the soloist’s Japanese holiday song “White Miracle.” While his physique is clearly striking to K-Pop fans and is frequently a hot topic, it sometimes overshadows the fact that Wonho himself is extremely passionate and devoted to his craft–from not only music production but even the wardrobe decisions for each comeback. Like most of his releases, all the songs in Facade were written and composed by the talented artist himself. In an interview with MTV News, Wonho also shared that since the album is called Facade, he wanted to play off of the word’s meaning by dressing in different outfits for the “CRAZY” music video. From a hip street outfit to a shiny cropped blazer, to at one point going completely shirtless, Wonho stuns with his visuals as he portrays varying concepts in the video.
Album Overview
The first track “INTRO: 9AM” is a dark and eerie string instrumental track that smoothly leads to the main title “CRAZY.” “CRAZY” is an exciting, groovy dance track with rock influences that gets one moving from the first beat. The vocal warping at the beginning is a surprise twist from other title tracks that often open with Wonho’s tender voice. The track, with its addicting bassline, energetic guitar riffs, and catchy hooks, is completed with the performer’s powerful dance moves showcased in the music video.
To slow things down from the dynamic title track, the following song is a dreamy all-English track titled “Close” with swoon-worthy lyrics. Next up, Wonho proves to non-believers that one can enjoy a Christmas song about the snowy weather even in the heat of June with the Korean version of “White Miracle.” Closing off his third mini-album is “OUTRO: 9PM” with a sweet sounding, jingle-like melody in comparison to its counterpart “INTRO: 9AM” at the beginning of the album. The instrumental tracks ultimately emphasize on Wonho’s hopes to showcase and express his duality throughout this music project.
