Find Your Way Home in Dvwn’s Latest Single lost

Dvwn returned after his 2021 it’s not your fault album with three new songs on his highly anticipated project lost on June 2, 2022. This electric rock-infused release features three tracks:

  1. “lost”*

  2. “사심 (true colors)”

  3. “재미없어 (empty)”

*Personal favorite track.

Alongside the release of this project, Dvwn dropped the music video for the title track “lost,” the indie-rock track which speaks on his struggles and worries as he continues with his path as a musician.

The music video features beautiful stills which were revealed to have been filmed in Iceland. The storyline follows three individuals who–although were lost, alone, and in the cold–were able to find each other to help one another find their way home, wherever that may have been. With all three of them gathered at this glass home in the middle of nowhere and then playing around outside together, it’s almost a reminder that you’ll find your way home and enjoy life when you least expect it.

The acting hits the nail on the head with how it correlates to the lyrics which describe his fears as an artist and this route he’s going down. From the opening lyrics alone, the sorrow in his voice is not lost or misplaced within the instruments at all: "The festival that felt like forever is now all over / Everyone said they liked it but not one person stayed.” From there, the chorus takes your breath away as the song picks up with the guitar, with Dvwn singing, "Oh mama I've lost my way to be honest / There's no one here who knows me / I realized after I retched it all out / I'm lost."

The following two tracks, “사심 (true colors)” and “재미없어 (empty),'' continue the weight of Dvwn’s concerns through how he is expressing himself with his singing style and the chosen instruments for each record. In “사심 (true colors),” the minor chords in the guitar and the breaks in the song complement his voice in a way that don’t overpower it.

Dvwn chooses to express himself alongside the melody where the music seems to move with him in “재미없어 (empty).” The bridge in this track allows time for reflection, it gives you time to think when you feel like you can’t keep up with anything or anyone around you. lost in its entirety makes you want to unwind and think back on how you live your life and how you want to continue living it moving forward; a true time stopper.

As an indie artist, Dvwn always held an old-head, vintage vibe to himself and his sound, which is what attracted a lot of people to him prior to signing to ZICO’s company KOZ Entertainment.

Dvwn’s previous releases always held elements of R&B, indie-pop, and lofi jazz to them but still felt like his own sound, and the same goes with lost. Dvwn is fully embracing the Brit-Rock genre and it doesn’t feel lost to one’s ears. He is truly making it feel like his own.

As he repeats the lyrics: "Country, country road / Take me, take me home" in “lost,” I hope Dvwn’s worries diminish as he prospers in his field. The 28-year-old has shown that his delicate vocals can expand in every direction with no limit to genre or collaboration that comes his way. lost is another great example of how and why Dvwn is a true artist.
