Title Track: “Chill Kill”
Red Velvet came back with a track that shocked me. “Chill Kill” is powerful, eerie, and impactful. While watching the video, I could have sworn I was watching a movie. The color scheme of the video reminds me of a horror movie. The scene at the beginning, of them moving the furniture in complete silence and sitting on the ground to take a picture, is so chilling. Red Velvet knows how to deliver a spooky experience, and they did exactly that.
The beginning of the song is very graceful. The members harmonizing together made me feel like I was floating. Then we are hit with an electric drill beat, and I can’t help but dance. The chorus is definitely my favorite part of the song. We all know what amazing vocalists the girls of Red Velvet are, and they proved it once again in this track. It brings a smile to my face to hear them singing all together again. The dance is phenomenal. The choreography is both graceful and dynamic, as usual. This track is fantastic and Red Velvet has done it once again and released a banger.
B-Sides
Throughout the album, Red Velvet continued with the spooky, eerie sound. These girls did not come to play. We instantly are hit back-to-back with amazing B-sides that capture their original sound.
“Knock Knock (Who’s There?)” and “Underwater” had me grooving in my seat and are two of my favorites. I would love to see the choreography of these two. These two fun songs are very addictive and are entertaining to listen to. There are tracks like “Knock Knock (Who’s There?)” and “Bulldozer” that feature heavy drill beats.
“Underwater,” “Nightmare,” “Iced Coffee,” and “Wings” are tracks that give us that Red Velvet R&B style that we know and love. “Nightmare” and “Iced Coffee” are two other favorites of mine. The eerie feeling and vocals are sensational. I’m telling you, Red Velvet knows how to do an R&B track, and they proved it with these four R&B songs.
Not only did we get R&B and house music, we also got pop. You’ve gotta love a pop song: they are upbeat, a joy to listen to, and fun. That’s exactly what “Will I Ever See You Again?” and “One Kiss” are. They are both pop dance tracks that will excite any listener (they had me pulling out my best moves). They are both entertaining and need to be playing on everyone's speakers.
Red Velvet also delivered ballads! “Wings” and “Scenery” are so beautiful. The vocals in these songs are extraordinary. I couldn’t help but sway side-to-side while listening to them on full-blast. “Scenery” is a great way to end an album. The song is calming and elegant, and you can’t help but sway to the beat. All of the songs on this album are amazing and groundbreaking. There isn’t a song on this album that I would skip.
Red Velvet is a group of talented women. This album is an amazing comeback and just proved how outstanding they are. Chill Kill - The 3rd Album is going to be an album that will be talked about forever. Us ReVeluv’s were super excited when we heard about their comeback, and they didn’t disappoint. We can’t wait to see the things they have planned for the future.
