Comebacks You May Have Missed in February
Here are some K-Hip/Hop and K-R&B you may have missed in February.
sogumm
As a last release while part of AOMG, sogumm released the single “사랑해 (I Love You) (Feat. 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗹).” With a contract expiration, she is officially leaving the agency. The single definitely feels like a goodbye song, as it opens as a soft ballad before transitioning into a more intense rock acoustic feel, giving it a very emotional tone. We hope to see more great projects from the unique singer in the future.
JUNNY
Just before kicking off his 2023 tour, JUNNY released a new pre-release track “Color Me” featuring Chungha. This duo together is fantastic, with two honey vocals coming together to release a catchy and incredibly groovy track. The song has an almost city pop feel with a contemporary kick, which is a fantastic mix that really complements both vocalists.
WOOGIE
On February 7, WOOGIE released the track “007” featuring Sik-K, ourrealgoat, and Theo. The track is an upbeat hip-hop-influenced beat that gives off carefree vibes of summer, but also prominently features an electric guitar that adds flare to the melody. The upbeat nature of the song is welcome as we prepare to embrace the warmer weather of spring.
Dvwn
Speaking of upbeat melodies, Dvwn made his return on February 17 with the single “Highteen.” The track reflects on young love through a pop punk-heavy track. The music video features the artist performing on guitar in front of his band alongside a classic love storyline. If you’re in the market for a pure feel-good track, I’d recommend checking this one out.
SoYoON!
Lead singer of the band SE SO NEON, SoYoON! Released single “Bad.” Often praised for her incredibly unique vocals and style, “Bad” tells the story of difficulty in love, and at least to me appears to be a reflection on the current state of hookup culture. The music video is quite provocative in the opening, which is unexpected, yet a powerful storytelling mechanism for the rest of the video.
TE.O
Rising K-R&B artist TE.O released his single “Payphone” on February 17. The jazz-influenced track has a refreshing feel to it, and the singer’s unique vocals are prominent alongside the retro melody. If you’re unfamiliar with this artist, take a moment to check him out in this newest release.
Xydo
Xydo is back with another simple and “Sweet” track. This acoustic R&B song gives off a sense of warmth and comfort, with his vocals as sweet as honey alongside the melody. The simple track has an almost lofi feeling to it, which adds to the overall comfort of the song. Xydo never fails to deliver some of the best vocal tracks.
