Prepare for Queendom Puzzle with a Puzzle-Themed Playlist

With Mnet confirming Queendom Puzzle for this June, many people remain puzzled on who will participate in the next iteration of the series. Queendom Puzzle will create a project group composed of female artists from various existing girl groups and solo acts. Mnet will reveal the show’s first lineup in May, but they encourage prospective viewers to assemble their own dream lineup before then. While creating a wishlist of contestants, hit play on this puzzle-filled playlist.

ARRAN - “PUZZLE”

Singer-songwriter ARRAN from NEWTYPE Entertainment branched into solo work with “PUZZLE” and its EP, PUZZLE 9 PIECES, in July 2019. ARRAN composed and penned lyrics for seven tracks on the EP. While other producers Noday and Trippy composed the tracks “I STILL LIKE IT” and “SECRET,” respectively, she still provided songwriting input on all songs. Although ARRAN only released one solo EP, her penchant for music also appeared through writing lyrics for songs such as Lovelyz’s “Twinkle,” “SHINING★STAR,” and “Like U,” LADIES’ CODE’s “NEW DAY,” Good Day’s “Fly Away,” fromis_9’s “THINK OF YOU,” and LIGHTSUM’s “Bye Bye Love.”

Baby V.O.X - “Puzzle”

Baby V.O.X released “Puzzle” on their fifth album Boyish Story in June 2001. Kim Hyungsuk composed and arranged “Puzzle,” which appeared as the 11th song on the 16-track album. Though not as known as Boyish Story’s promoted tracks, “Game Over” and “인형,” “Puzzle” contrasted with the R&B sounds. Kim E-Z, Lee Heejin, Shim Eunjin, Kan Miyoun, and Yoon Eunhye imbued poppiness in the tune about the confusing, yet exciting feeling when enamored with someone.

LOONA - “Puzzle”

Released prior to LOONA’s official 2018 debut, members Choerry and JinSoul teamed up in “Puzzle” back in July 2017. As part of LOONA’s two-year debut project, each member got the chance to showcase their talents through solo music and subunits. Choerry’s self-titled solo EP included “Puzzle” with the lead track “Love Cherry Motion.” Composed by Andreas Öberg, Daniel “Obi” Klein, and Charli Taft, “Puzzle” shared a glimpse of Choerry and JinSoul’s combined synergy. Choerry and JinSoul later formed the subunit LOONA/ODD EYE CIRCLE with Kim Lip in September 2017.

GWSN - “Puzzle Moon”

GWSN made their debut with “Puzzle Moon” and its EP THE PARK IN THE NIGHT part one in September 2018. The music video featured members Miya, Seokyoung, Seoryoung, Anne, Minju, Soso, and Lena as they aim to find the pieces that make themselves feel whole. The lyrics reflected this journey of self-discovery, with them seeking a “full moon,” a stand-in for the self. Stupid Squad producers Maynine and LLANO composed “Puzzle Moon” with the magical, bouncy notes that influenced the rest of GWSN’s THE PARK IN THE NIGHT trilogy. This sound formed the basis of what later became their  musical identity, which evolved in future tracks “BAZOOKA!” and “Like It Hot.”
