Bringing Back We Baby Bears’ “The Bha Bha Song” with TRI.BE

After MONSTA X’s appearance on We Bare Bears in 2019, the series’ spin-off continues its K-Pop collaborations with TRI.BE performing the We Baby Bears theme song. TRI.BE sings the “Bha Bha Song,” a cute track ushering in the adventures of young Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear. The show premiered on Cartoon Network America on January 1, 2022.

“The Bha Bha Song” released on December 17, 2021, with English, Korean, Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese versions. Given the cartoon’s global release and TRI.BE’s multinational members, this approach makes sense. Songsun, Jinha, Hyunbin, and Soeun hail from South Korea, Kelly and Jia hail from Taiwan, and Mire hails from Japan. The theme song slips in a few references to its singers, starting with the group’s introductory catchphrase “TRI.BE vida loca” before the catchy hook. “[Everybody] come play with TRI.BE” also appears in the song, cementing it with TRI.BE’s touch. TRI.BE even promoted the Korean version on music shows from December 2021 to January 2022.

Creating the Music Video

According to Songsun, TRI.BE filmed “The Bha Bha Song” music video right after filming “WOULD YOU RUN,” their latest title track and music video at the time. The music video uses the “Bha Bha Diner” as the music video’s main set. The pizza parlor draws in the bears, who try to steal delicious pizzas. The bear brothers’ interactions with TRI.BE add to the fun too: social media-obsessed Panda snapping a selfie during the “stop” portion of the choreography oozes pure genius. TRI.BE also explores the seas in a ship glammed up with shiny gems and sporting the baby bears’ signature star symbol. TRI.BE landed a large opportunity for their first shot at a cute concept.

Creating the Song

“The Bha Bha Song” was a joint effort between Andy Sturmer, an American musician working with Cartoon Network, and TRI.BE’s producers Shinsadong Tiger and EXID’s ELLY. Sturmer and Shinsadong Tiger composed the song, and the trio wrote the lyrics. The song speaks about spreading happiness across the world and banding together for a good time. As the series explores the three bear brothers looking for a forever home, the track fits the show well. In a Warner Bros. press release, Head of Kids & Family Programming Amy Friedman said TRI.BE’s motto “We are Perfect as We are” helps attract the show’s core audience by “[doubling] down on themes of inclusivity and acceptance.” We Baby Bears recently premiered its second season on June 17 in America; American fans can catch TRI.BE during their ongoing TRI.BE VIDA LOCA 2023 USA tour, which runs until July 3.
