THE NEW SIX (TNX) Reintroduces Themselves With Their Latest Single “Kick It 4 Now”
Allow TNX to reintroduce themselves. THE NEW SIX are back with a fresh concept, kicking it back to the ‘90s with their third mini-album, BOYHOOD.
The six-member boy group under P NATION began popping up on people's TikTok feeds through a retro, ‘90s lens—their concept videos reminding people of early Korean music shows, back when Song Hyekyo and Choi Changmin were co-hosts.
BOYHOOD features a total of six new tracks, including an English version of their title track "Kick It 4 Now."
Tracklist
"Kick It 4 Now” *Title
"By You"
"Good Day”
"My Bias"
"1000 Miles"
"Kick It 4 Now (English Version)”
"Kick It 4 Now" is a New Jack Swing track, allowing the members to be free and bright within this new era. The old-skool beat feels bouncy as the members enunciate each word, with the end phrases of the post-chorus being my favorite part:
"Nostalgia, deja vu (for now), I’m comin’ back to you, Nostalgia, deja vu, So please stay around
Nostalgia, deja vu (so please stay around), I’m comin’ back to you, Nostalgia, deja vu, Let’s kick it 4 now"
The music video is just as bright as the teasers, showing the choreography far more as they alternate between the classic boy band all-white outfits, to the all-black futuristic outfits alluding to the Y2K era.
The EP continues as "Kick It 4 Now" is followed with "By You," a melodic R&B track that speaks about how well the members go with their person. "Ya me plus you is a perfect 2, Taking off till the end." The track is atmospheric with a bridge that kicks up anticipation and draws listeners in.
For new fans of THE NEW SIX, "Good Day" serves as the perfect track to hear all the members' skills. The trap-pop song provides a freedom within the melody for each of the members to showcase their abilities, and allows them to experiment on a synth beat. This is one of my favorite songs on the EP.
"My Bias" has all elements of a fan-centered song. Its instrumental remains light as the whistling notes carry on throughout, as well as the light tinny noises within the track. The chorus and bridge are perfect for fans to sing along to in unison with the group.
THE NEW SIX nails down the alt-pop, hip-hop influenced sound. "1000 Miles" features both elements in a way that doesn't cause the genres to clash. From the verses to the chorus, this track ties in all elements of BOYHOOD, a fun EP that allows them to have fun in a new sound and concept.
If the members time traveled to the music show in their teaser videos, there's no question that they'd receive an all-kill in the charts. BOYHOOD is a certified stan-attractor and THE NEW SIX is definitely a group to keep an eye on.
BOYHOOD is available now on Spotify and all music streaming platforms.
