Having the Best Fansign Experience

Fansigns are one of the most exciting things you can take part in as a fan of K-Pop. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be able to talk to your favorite idols. This month, we’ll talk about how to make the most of a fansign experience.

First things first: celebrate! Getting a slot in a fansign is really exciting, so don’t be afraid to be happy about it!

Once it’s settled that you’re in the fansign and you’ll get to talk to your favorite idol, it’s time to start preparing. Many fansigns, especially in the last couple years, have been virtual, so it’s especially important to check your timezone with the time the call is supposed to be. Many times will mean having to stay up really late or wake up really early just to be ready for the call.

Before the call, make a list of questions to talk about with your idol! But of course, keep it simple and appropriate. They could be about songwriting, what they like about certain things in idol life, or anything related to what they do. It’s also good to practice with a friend; it can help make sure you have good questions and also keep track of how much time you take. Many fansigns are for a very short time frame, usually no more than about two minutes tops. Calls typically get cut off right at the time limit, so it’s important to ask what you want in a short amount of time! Practice will help make sure you can get your timing right and if you also want to screen record, make sure to add that into your practice run.

Most importantly, have fun! Only so many fans get the opportunity to talk to their favorite idols face to face, so make sure that you make the most of it.
