LIMELIGHT’s LAST DANCE as a Trio

On January 11, LIMELIGHT released their third EP LAST DANCE, their final EP as a three-member group. The group plans to add new members in the future. LAST DANCE features 18 tracks, including the title track “TA-DA,” the B-side “Baby, Maybe Crazy,” and solo tracks for members MiU and Suhye. Gaeun decided against releasing her solo song at this time

LIMELIGHT’s History

Prior to debut, MiU and Suhye appeared on survival shows. In 2022, MiU participated in Mnet’s Girls Planet 999, and Suhye participated on JTBC’s My Teenage Girl. Though neither debuted in Kep1er or CLASS:Y, respectively, they did not wait long before becoming idols.

Later that year, 143 Entertainment, their management, announced the first LIMELIGHT members.  LIMELIGHT released their self-titled pre-debut EP on September 29, 2022. The four-track EP included “StarLight,” “Eye to Eye,” “Paradise,” and “Cha Cha.” Each track came with separate instrumental and acapella versions, something also consistent in future releases. The music videos for “StarLight” and “Eye to Eye” came out on September 27 and 28, respectively.

LIMELIGHT made their official debut on February 17, 2023. Their first EP Love & Happiness included the title track “Honestly” and B-sides “Blanc Noir” and “Crystal.” The music video for “Honestly” showed LIMELIGHT acting out school love, with iKON’s Jay playing one of the love interests.

For their first comeback, LIMELIGHT released the single album MADELEINE on August 4, 2023. The music video for “Madeleine” looks cheerful for the summer, but the song comes with a melancholy tone. The implications of “you make me love you, why don’t you know?” underlie the smiley imagery of dancing on the beach.

LAST DANCE

LAST DANCE’s tracklist leaves a literal large impression. It looks huge on first glance but it’s made from four main songs. “TA-DA!,” “Baby, Maybe Crazy,” “IF U KNOW U KNOW (SUHYE Solo),” and “TWENTY TWENTY (MiU Solo)” get instrumental and acapella versions. In the case of the two members’ solo songs, those receive guitar and electric piano remixes, respectively. MiU’s solo song provides Korean and Japanese versions, giving one sung in her native language.

LIMELIGHT uses the title track “TA-DA!” to represent their upcoming path. While the song discusses feeling “mesmerized” by a loved one, the music video shows a journey. Flashes of other LIMELIGHT music videos appear, and LIMELIGHT takes a road trip. The video concludes with the three members standing at a crossroad.*
