AB6IX Shares a Message of Hope in “GRAB ME”
AB6IX is back with their eighth mini-album, just four months after their last release. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost five years since the group’s debut. The new EP, THE FUTURE IS OURS : FOUND, concludes the series connected to the previous EP. Previously, the members shared their pain, wounds, and steps towards growing up. With this new release, through their maturity and determination, they send a message of courage and hope to listeners, encouraging them to continue stepping forward toward a brighter future. The album is highlighted by the title track, “GRAB ME.”
“GRAB ME” is an upbeat pop track with a positive message, as previously mentioned. The song has a pretty familiar composition to many of AB6IX’s title tracks, so those familiar with their discography will find this one easy to digest. The post-chorus provides a bit of flair to the track by breaking it up and providing a distinct harmony that contrasts with the majority of the melody. As usual, the vocals take center stage with this quartet, and the upbeat melody provides a sweet-sounding track.
The video kicks off in a rather unexpected way, with Woong falling off the top of a building and seemingly falling onto the car Woojin is driving. It seems kind of randomly morbid, no? Perhaps it’s a callback to the motif of the previous release or to simply contrast the darker actions with a brighter message of hope to show it can still exist amongst the darkness. I particularly like the shot of Daehwi pulling off the label “fragile” from his clothing; I think that is a particularly strong metaphor. As expected, the video has a mix of choreography and storyline shots to showcase all the different sides of AB6IX.
