Throwback Thursday: This Is What You Call A Masterpiece Part 2
If I were to ask you, “What song do you consider a masterpiece?” What would you say? For me, there are way too many songs for me just to say one, and I wouldn’t blame you if you said more than one. That’s why this is split into multiple parts. So, today, we will take it back and talk about some tracks that we consider a masterpiece.
NCT 127 - “Superhuman”
“YEAH! SUPERHUMAN!” On May 23, 2019, NCT 127 dropped their well-known EP, NCT #127 WE ARE SUPERHUMAN - The 4th Mini Album. This EP has everything you could have thought of. With only six songs, we are given dance tracks, ballads, and upbeat pop. On this EP is their ICONIC title track “Superhuman.” When many hear this song, they already think of the word masterpiece. You can hear high notes, harmonization, and striking raps throughout this song. Just from the beginning, “Yeah,” you are instantly hooked. “Superhuman” is a very addictive song. If any song will make you feel like you are levitating, it will be this one. It is a dream of mine and many others to hear this song live. “Superhuman” is a masterpiece and will forever be a masterpiece.
MONSTA X - “Love Killa”
On November 2, 2020, Starship Entertainment boy group MONSTA X dropped their full-length album, Fatal Love. This jam-packed album is so much fun to listen to. This is one of my favorite albums, and it’s for a great reason. The title track of this album is “Love Killa.” This upbeat hip-hop-infused track is addictive and fun to listen to. This song has so many iconic lines, and you can’t help but repeat them. For example, “Got room from one more,” “Oh, I’m sorry, did I make you anxious?” and “That’s right, you look at my eyes. Straight into my eyes and just say. I want you, eat me like a main dish.” I wish I could go back and hear this song for the first time. It was hard to pick just one MONSTA X song, but this one just had to be picked. It’s such a cool track and is a favorite amongst so many.
BLACKPINK - “PLAYING WITH FIRE”
Back on November 1, 2016, YG Entertainment girl group BLACKPINK dropped their banger of an EP, SQUARE TWO - EP. This EP is home to many of their well-known tracks, and one of them is “PLAYING WITH FIRE.” This groovy dance track is a joy to listen to. Throughout the song, we get to an addictive beat. The choreography is so much fun–the arm and hand movements are precise and show the intensity of the dance. The members ride the beat when it comes to rapping and singing. For example, LISA’s rap is striking and hits the beat with precision. In comparison, Rosé vocals flow as the beat progresses. The ending of this song is what stands out to me. The way the verses end with a high note, and the rest of the song is the beat and members dancing. The lack of a final chorus is fantastic and really stood out.
