NCT WISH Makes Their Wishes Come True For Rookie Debut

NCT WISH has finally made their official debut! As the newest group from the NCT universe, this is a group you don’t want to sleep on. NCT WISH consists of members Sion, Riku, Yushi, Jaehee, Ryo, and Sakuya who show great promise of talent and skill. Debuting with both Korean and Japanese versions of their song, the group also aims to target the Japanese market as well, further growing the NCT realm and making them an even bigger, global group.

Prior to their official debut, NCT WISH came out with their single “Hands Up” which is an upbeat pop dance track that falls into the trendy “noise” music genre that will get you vibing along with them. This is a great introduction to get many interested and curious to know what NCT WISH has next to offer. They surely did not disappoint as “WISH” is also noisy and funky, yet addictive and catchy in a way that follows the signature NCT style that you can find in their NCT 127 and NCT Dream units. “WISH” definitely takes you on a ride that has blends of pop/dance mixed with 90’s R&B tones in the verses. At first, this may be disorienting but after a while, it actually works. You can’t help but continue to listen the more that it keeps playing. “WISH” is a song that talks about making wishes and dreams come true, especially when it comes to granting wishes about love. There is an air of young confidence that “WISH” has and it’s quite sweet to see such innocent and determined boys try to impress and make wishes come true.

As for the music video, the NCT WISH members are cupids in training as they learn what love is and how to make these love wishes work out. Literally falling out of the sky as if their wings have been clipped, it's quite the scene to see this cupid concept showcased in their own style and way. While they all come together to discover what humans on Earth are like and how they fall in love, there is this naivety and childlike wonder as the members try and help these unlikely strangers find love. Sometimes it doesn’t end up going well, but by the end of the video, it seems like they get the hang of it. It is very curious to know if there will be a continuation of the music video as there still seems to be more to the story.

NCT WISH definitely makes a solid debut that will get viewers and fans interested. As the newest edition to NCT, there is a wonder of how they will be further incorporated into the quilt of NCT’s universe and what they have planned next, but I truly hope we get to hear more J-Pop influences and styles for NCT WISH in the future as well.
