woo!ah! Comes Back After 16 Months, Getting Hearts Racing with “BLUSH”

Almost a year and a half since their last music release, woo!ah!’s latest single “BLUSH” delivers a trendy, laid back vibe. A departure from 2022’s “Rollercoaster” off their fourth single album Pit-a-Pat, woo!ah! released “BLUSH” on April 8. Nana, Wooyeon, Sora, Lucy, and Minseo moved from one dance track to another, but with different takes. woo!ah!’s “BLUSH” sits in the category of laid back girl group cuteness alongside recent releases like ILLIT’s “Magnetic” and RESCENE’s “YoYo.”

Brief Highlights of woo!ah!’s Activities and Changes

In the time since Pit-a-Pat, a few notable events happened:

  • Nana started and finished her tenure as an emcee on Show Champion with Billlie’s Moon Sua and Tsuki

  • Nana and Wooyeon competed on Mnet’s Queendom Puzzle, with Nana securing a spot in the project group EL7Z UP

  • woo!ah!’s company changed their name to SSQ Entertainment from NV Entertainment

“BLUSH”

The lyrics describe a love that causes one to blush greatly. Lyricists DASUTC, Jessica Oh, UJINLEE, HYANG, and Camel Park stick to blush-worthy lyrics sure to remind many of attraction’s serotonin rush. The refrain following the song’s “blush” hook quantifies this amount of love, saying that “I feel like 많이” (“I feel like I’m very,” as they feel like they are blushing a lot. Though English speakers may easily mishear “I feel like money”).*

The trendy melodies and beats come courtesy of prolific K-Pop producer Ryan Jhun, Sebastian Bilem, Elias Gauss, Kristine Bogan, and Kristin Marie. Just like the song, the music video is very soft. It has a dreamy aesthetic full of light blues, pinks, reds, and whites. The track’s opening line coincidentally references many of these colors.

Looking Ahead and Related Recent Projects

While “BLUSH” remains only a digital single, its promotional scheduler implies that woo!ah! will release something else in June. Before that, EL7Z UP  will make their first comeback in May. It comes eight months after their debut. WOW, woo!ah! fans, can also see other members in different activities in the meantime.

Wooyeon stars in the currently airing web drama Caffeine Romance, playing lead character Kim Yeojoo alongside GHOST9’s Lee Jinwoo’s portrayal of Lee Wondoo. Late last year, Wooyeon and Jinwoo also starred in Snap and Spark, which Wooyeon and Minseo sang separate OST songs for. Snap and Spark also featured multiple idol actors, like ICHILLIN’s E.Ji and VERIVERY’s Kangmin
