Best of April 2024

April 2024 was another strong month of comebacks from some of our favorite artists in the Korean music scene. From bands to solo artists, April has given us many great tracks to listen to and here are some of my favorites.

“I’ll See You There Tomorrow” - Tomorrow X Together (TXT)

“I’ll See You There Tomorrow” by Tomorrow X Together (TXT) exudes British vibes, which is no surprise considering the track was produced by British music producer Shift K3y. Released on April 1, “I'll See You There Tomorrow” incorporates an enticing electronic beat with a smooth melody and incredible vocals from the members: Soobin, Yeonjun, Taehyun, Huening Kai, and Beomgyu. It's a great track I can imagine being played on repeat in clubs across Europe, with everyone dancing and singing along, especially to its addictive chorus. We heard it in 2019 in the song “Roller Coaster” from the group’s second album The Dream Chapter: MAGIC, and now we hear it again in the opening track of the group’s sixth EP minisode 3: TOMORROW. TXT clearly have a knack for delivering great British club sounds.

“Dear. My Darling” - BOYNEXTDOOR

BOYNEXTDOOR showed a different side to themselves and their artistry with "Dear. My Darling," the sixth track on their second EP HOW?.  Released on April 15, "Dear. My Darling" plays like a beautiful homage to music from the 1950s, particularly blues ballads with its slow, love song style and heartfelt vocals from each member. If you close your eyes while listening to the track, "Dear. My Darling" can magically transport your mind to a black and white movie scene of a school dance with BOYNEXTDOOR suited up, performing "Dear. My Darling" on stage. It's one of those songs that can take your imagination to wonderful musical places.

“MMI” - I.M

On April 3, I.M came back strong with his third EP, Off the Beat. Full of so many brilliant tracks, the fifth track “MMI” came out on top for me, becoming one of my favorite releases from I.M so far. “MMI” opens with a smooth Latin-style guitar sound before introducing hip-hop beats and I.M’s enticing vocals. Like his previous tracks, the song carries a sensual feel with an addictive chorus that will immediately have you singing along and moving to the beat. “MMI” is a great track that will leave you wanting more from I.M (so make sure you grab tickets to his upcoming first-ever solo World Tour so that you can hear “MMI” and all of his other amazing tracks in person).
