Modhaus, tripleS’s company, revealed Acid Angel from Asia alongside +(KR)ystal Eyes, who debuted on May 4, 2023.

With their then-revealed lineup of 10 members, tripleS debuted with ASSEMBLE on February 13, 2023. The seven-track release included the vocals of Seoyeon, Hyerin, Jiwoo, Chaeyeon, Yooyeon, Soomin, Nakyoung, Yubin, Kaede, and Dahyun. They showed off a first look at their group dynamic through the title track “Rising.”ASSEMBLE also contained “Dimension,” a song first recorded by Acid Angel from Asia that would go on to reappear many times in tripleS’s discography.

“Girls Never Die”

The title track for <ASSEMBLE24> does a good job utilizing the collectiveness of a large group. “Girls Never Die” focuses on the shared struggles of young women. The lyrics, written by Jaden Jeong, start from an individual’s perspective that they face their problems alone. This person feels dissatisfied with the world, wanting to hide all their perceived flaws under “strong makeup” and  “strong filters.” They think that they will just remain forgotten in the world’s view. Eventually, another voice comes into the song, urging them to keep striving for a better world together.*

The music video leans heavily into the saddened state of the speaker’s thoughts. The visuals show people symbolized through birds, which appear in varying states: the first group shot shows them attending a funeral of a bird, but the bird also joins a flock after it rises from its grave. “Girls Never Die” carries a theme of resilience within its lyrics and its music video. As its chorus says, “we stand up even when we fall,” the 24 voices reinforce that unity.

So far, this release has proven there’s strength in numbers with members, the album, the music video, and even music show results. Not only does it mark the group’s first release as 24, but it also helped tripleS earn their first win on THE SHOW on May 14. It appears they may keep “rising,” as foretold in their debut.
