Introducing GHOST9

If you are on social media then you must have come across videos of a hilarious Korean-based Thai singer who gets up to all kinds of wonderful mischief behind his manager's back, from cooking all sorts of food in his group’s practice room to, most recently, sneaking out to Lotte World for a fun day out with one of his group mates. Yes, you have probably guessed it by now, I am talking about the one and only Prince from GHOST9. Thanks to his videos, a lot of people (including myself) have been introduced to GHOST9 and their music. So, here are some of their B-sides tracks for you to listen to so you can continue to show love to them.

“한 글자도 놓치지 마 (Focus)”

The penultimate track from GHOST9’s second mini-album Pre Episode 2 : W.all, “한 글자도 놓치지 마 (Focus)” exudes a mature sound with the GHOST9 members’ vocals singing against a dramatic, EDM-infused beat. The vocals feel heartfelt, adding to the dramatics of the track. I particularly love the echo effect that can be heard in the pre-chorus on words like “mal, geu mal” and “nohchiji ma” and the high registered vocals on the word “nal” in the song’s chorus. “한 글자도 놓치지 마 (Focus)” is a track with a sound that has both nostalgic and futuristic tones, making it a great track to begin your deep dive into GHOST9’s discography.

“Monday to Sunday”

GHOST9 close their third mini-album NOW : Where We Are with “Monday to Sunday.” This is a light, dreamy track that emits perfect summertime sounds as GHOST9's strong yet endearing vocals coast along the track's soft-pop beat. The delivery of the chorus sparks happiness with how the vocals are presented, particularly with how the words “Monday to Sunday” and “‘cause you're my girl” are sung, contributing towards “Monday to Sunday” having that sweet boy group charm that we all love.

“Double Click”

From their fourth mini-album NOW : When are we in Love, GHOST9’s “Double Click” is a fun-filled track that sounds as if it was influenced by video games. The song’s backtrack fuses varying sound effects into its piano instrumentation (particularly noticeable are the water droplet sounds) as the members’ smooth vocals glide across it. Through the instrumentation and vocals, “Double Click” has a perfect mix of upbeat notions and laid back vibes that make it an addictive track to listen to on repeat.
