STAYC’S First Full Album Metamorphic is Here

It’s here! Metamorphic is a long-awaited album that many SWITH have been waiting for. The High Up Entertainment girl group STAYC has been a phenomenon ever since their debut, and these girls never disappoint. Their full-length album is jam-packed with 14 songs that each have their special sound to them.

Title Track: “Cheeky Icy Thang”

The styling of this track is something new from STAYC. Normally, we get the bubbly and cutesy concepts from them, but “Cheeky Icy Thang” is different. This track reminds me of a previous STAYC song entitled “RUN2U.” While keeping to their bright colors and expressive videos, they are giving us a title track with a more mature sound. The same retro-synth beat we hear in “RUN2U” can also be heard in this new track, which gives us a familiar sound while still being different and fresh. The track is upbeat and is so catchy. STAYC knows how to make an addictive song. This song is a hit and we haven’t even spoken about the choreography. The choreography is so unique. There are parts of the dance that focus on more of a ripple effect. That is something we’ve seen before in STAYC’s choreography, but this one is more of them copying each other. It’s different. It’s special.

The music video is quirky. The giant ice cream cones, the change in sets, the background characters, and the cat ice cream man create a peculiar video that captures your attention the moment it starts. The song is so much fun to listen to and is bound to go down as another banger from STAYC.

Sub-Unit Tracks

This album has 13 more songs that are perfect for any mood. Just from listening to this album, I can tell they went all out for this release. The album contains three unit songs, all on completely opposite sides of the spectrum. If you want something with an energetic beat and heavenly vocals, “Find” by Sieun, Seeun, and J is the right song for you. “Fakin” by Sumin and Yoon is for people looking for a nice pop track, and if you want to feel like a girl boss, “Roses” by Isa will make you feel that way.

Like I said before, there is a track on here for everyone. STAYC did their big one. From this new concept and video, one could only be excited about their plans for this comeback. I can’t wait to watch the stages. So, check out Metamorphic and see which track is your favorite.
