SHINee member TAEMIN released his fifth solo mini album ETERNAL on August 19. Consisting of seven songs, it features a double title track “Sexy In The Air” and “Horizon.” Respectively reaching #1 and #2 on Bugs’ real-time music chart on August 20, counting all seven songs from his new album in the top 10, ETERNAL demonstrates the soloist’s rising popularity. The track showcases TAEMIN’s artistic genius through a captivating fusion of genres including boom bap, (Boom bap is an onomatopoeic word describing the kick—or boom—and snare drum—or bap—sounds. It was a popular style for hip-hop in the ‘80s and ‘90s, especially in the East Coast scene) trap, and drill. The music video begins with an electric guitar sound, illustrated by circuits evoking neural connections, creating an intro that immediately captures attention. TAEMIN then enters, walking with a captivating gait, accentuated by a stylized black and white that highlights his bare chest and face. The first dance sequence, rhythmic and contrasting with sensual lyrics, is punctuated by black and white moments, ending with an electric guitar riff and slow motion images that intensify the atmosphere.
