K-Pop Music Videos Filmed in New York
Check out how these artists take over the Big Apple.
After their sold-out show at Terminal 5, SEVENTEEN’s performance unit filmed their music video “Lilili Yabbay” on Joralemon Street outside Brooklyn Borough Hall. The building is a piece of Greek Revival architecture, built nearly two decades ago and stands as Brooklyn’s oldest public building. The video was filmed in one shot, with the focus being on the four performance unit members despite there being extras at the beginning and end of the video.
CL of 2NE1 took to the streets of New York for her American debut and first English single, “Lifted.” The song itself was a step in a different direction than fans were used to with a more laid-back sound than the rapper’s previous work. This sample of “Method Man” by Wu-Tang Clan has a cameo from Method Man himself who is seen dancing beside CL in the video.
Stray Kids take over New York City, vandalizing everything in their path during “Chk Chk Boom.” The video consists of a mix of studio and outdoor shots, with the members dancing in the streets and standing on rooftops among the city’s skyscrapers. The scenes that take place on the street were filmed on Gay Street, two blocks from the historic Stonewall Inn. The video was directed by Bang Jaeyeob, a director that the group has worked with on many of their major projects.
