On November 14, the highly-anticipated 2024 MAMA AWARDS revealed a sneak peek into some of the iconic stage performances that fans and viewers can expect this year. 

The upcoming 2024 MAMA AWARDS in JAPAN's concept this year is the “BIG BLUR: What is Real?” With THEME, CINEMATIC, MEGA, and EXCLUSIVE STAGES, they'll be featuring dazzling performances by today’s biggest K-pop stars that can only be seen at the MAMA AWARDS. 

The MAMA AWARDS were first launched in 1999 as Korea’s first music video ceremony by CJ ENM’s music channel Mnet. MAMA AWARDS is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the artistry and the power of music to connect people as one. Since then, every year, MAMA AWARDS has evolved to deliver iconic and memorable performances under a new concept each year, a tradition that this year’s ceremony intends to keep for the 25th time. 

The THEME STAGE opening act of 2024 MAMA AWARDS JAPAN will feature YEONJUN of TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) and a sci-fi-esque collaboration with robots Sung Hanbin of ZEROBASEONE, Karina of aespa, Rei of IVE, and Yoshi of TREASURE in an unforgettable collaboration performance. 2024 MAMA AWARDS JAPAN host Kim Taeri will then join the performing artists for a special opening performance on the second night. 

The CINEMATIC STAGE will combine dramatic and cinematic elements with K-Pop. ZEROBASEONE will present a new take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Inspired by their fourth mini-album “CINEMA PARADISE” released in August, the band will portray nine “Romeos" and reinterpret the tragic love story as a K-Pop performance.

The MEGA STAGE will be presented by (G)I-DLE with a large dance crew of 100 dancers. (G)I-DLE also performed the MEGA STAGE last year and this year, fans can look forward to another intense and impactful stage that highlights the girl group’s unrivaled presence.

The EXCLUSIVE STAGE is a one-of-a-kind performance that will feature actor BYEON WOOSEOK, who is also presenting at the 2024 MAMA AWARDS JAPAN on November 22. The actor will surprise fans by performing “Sudden Shower,” a soundtrack from the hit tvN drama Lovely Runner, creating a special moment for fans to meet “Ryu Sunjae,” the lead vocalist of the drama’s band ECLIPSE, in the real world at the 2024 MAMA AWARDS.

2024 MAMA AWARDS, presented by Visa, is set to kick off at the Hollywood Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on November 21 (PST) before moving to the KYOCERA DOME OSAKA in Japan on November 22 and 23 (KST/JST). The 2024 MAMA AWARDS will also be broadcast worldwide via  Mnet, its official YouTube channel Mnet K-POP, and Mnet Plus.
