Staying Fueled while at KCON NY 2018

When I wasn’t dancing my heart out at one of the sponsor booths or attending one of the many workshops or panels, I spent a lot of time eating to maintain my energy. While KCON NY always brings great panels and special guests each year, they take special care of picking the best food around New York to feed the hungry KCONers each year. Check out some of my favorites below.

Free Food

That's right. Free. When you visited a few of the vendor booths, you were able to receive some awesome food samples. Among these booths were crowd favorites such as Bibigo, Melona, Milkis, and Innisfree! Bibigo offered booth attendees samples of their potstickers, dumplings, and wontons, which you could pair alongside one of their many popular sauces. Milkis offered a full size sample of their wildly popular original flavor. Innisfree was giving out green cotton candy for a spin on their wheel, and finally, my favorite booth was the Melona booth which gave you the chance to win cute Melona-themed prizes and a refreshing popsicle. If you are like me and HATE lines, they also let you purchase the cool treat for $2.

MOK BAR

MOK BAR has two locations in New York, and this year they brought a variety of yummy treats, one of which was the Bibimboppers. The other highlight was the cute floaties that came with any of the “refreshers” on their menu. The bibimboppers peaked my interest with their description. They definitely did not disappoint; these deep fried balls of chewy goodness were a great start to the afternoon on Saturday. Paired alongside one of their cute drinks with the floaty, I was pleasantly surprised at how full I was with such little food.

Korilla BBQ

A returning KCON favorite, Korilla has three brick and mortar stores and a food truck that wanders around most of New York. This year Korilla was back with their “Adult Non-Alcoholic Capri Suns” and rice bowls! These capri suns are packaged to look like your childhood favorite but taste more like something a young adult should be drinking. I was very excited to try the bulgogi rice bowl with the popular “Korilla Sauce.” For good measure, I also bought some dumplings JUST in case I was still hungry. I immediately realized after digging into the rice bowl that, I definitely did not need the dumplings, so I shared those with the people around me. Gotta make friends right?

Overall, the KCON food scene was far from disappointing and the pricing met my expectations for a convention. Would I eat everything again? Absolutely. Here's to hoping KCON continues to expand the food offerings each year. What were some of your favorites? Leave a comment below!
