Weekly Charts: July 18 - July 25

This week’s charts turn up the heat with explosive back-to-back releases. From your favorite groups to iconic solo artists, you’ll find all the songs you need for sleepless nights, summer adventures, and intense love stories this season.

FROM MOON NIGHT TO SUN BRIGHT

GFRIEND leaves the moon night for a “Sunny Summer” this season with the July 19 release of their seventh EP. The six girls return after the success of their last comeback with a fresh track suitable for hot summer days. While their past summer tracks have dabbled in EDM and tender hybrid-pop, this new song features funky strings and lively brass topped with a catchy “Yeorum Yeorumhae” key change in the chorus for the completion of this essential summer anthem. The music video enhances the lively song as the members engage in various summer activities while creating the best memories. Wrapping up the Top 10 on Instiz, the song makes this an unforgettable season with GFRIEND.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

SEVENTEEN exclaim “Oh My!” with their latest EP, You Make My Day, released on July 19. Compared to their melancholic EDM sound last summer, the 13 boys express their love and disbelief through this synth-pop track. While emphasizing their lack of sleep from overwhelming emotions through their lyrics, the members still manage to enter the dream realm in their music video with scenes that portray how dreamy and magical falling in love can be. Ranked #23 on MelOn and 15 on Bugs! on this week’s charts, make sure to keep dreaming through these summer nights with SEVENTEEN’s light-hearted love song.

SUMMER LOVIN’ SOLOS

Chungha makes it clear that she just wants to “Love U” with her latest song off of her Blooming Blue EP released on July 18. Reminiscent of her debut song, she returns to her tropical house routes with her latest track, displaying a more lovely image. Through this song, the soloist expresses the fact her heart is overflowing with emotion and declares just how much she wants to shower love onto the person she has fallen for, evident through the affection in her lyrics and a choreography complete with heart gestures. Ranked #21 on MelOn and in the Top 10 on Instiz, Genie, and Soribada this week, listeners are falling in love with Chungha bit by bit.

Five years since his last comeback, Seungri finally released his long-awaited solo album, The Great Seungri, on July 20. With his recent single, the singer switches from his past club-inspired music to a 1950s beach boogie-influenced sound for “1, 2, 3!” Seungri sheds his previous playboy image to show more of his suave gentleman side in the music video. He chases the girl of his dreams and seduces her with his moves, with the song acting as the main soundtrack to this mini musical. Currently #20 on the Instiz Weekly iChart and #8 on Bugs!, the youngest BIGBANG member sends off a funky farewell present before his enlistment for listeners to jive to until his return.

Hyolyn continues SISTAR’s summer song legacy with her latest release of “See Sea” on July 20. Following the sensuous R&B of “Dally,” the solo singer cools down with an 80s-inspired dance-pop track. In this single, Hyolyn is said to want to take things to the next level with her babe, and what better way than to hit it off at the most romantic setting by the sea? The singer continues to exude her sexy aura amidst sentimental lyrics, with hip-shaking choreography paired against vibrant beach visuals turning up the heat at number 13 on the Bugs! weekly music chart.
