Ten Girl Groups Expected to Make Their Debut in 2020

Over the past 12 months, the new faces of K-Pop have already left their mark on the world. Groups such as ITZY, EVERGLOW, and BVNDIT are just a few of the names that have been circling the charts, building devoted fan bases ready to propel these young groups into the next stages of their careers. 2020 is certain to be no different, and  sure to provide a shift in the K-Pop landscape yet again as new trainees debut into a world already oozing with talent, ready to prove their worth to millions of fans worldwide. So with 2020 only hours away, here are ten girl groups that are expected to take the plunge and debut within the next 12 months.

ISE

ISE is an upcoming girl group under A Team Entertainment, comprising of various notable trainees including former YG trainee Park Seoyeon/Roya Park, Son Eunchae and Kim Choyeon–all of Produce 48 fame. The group will consist of seven members, with fellow members including Suji, Suyeon, Chaeeun and Yunju. No date for their debut has currently been set, however the A Team Dream Twitter posted this cryptic message from their female trainees, who wish fans a Merry Christmas whilst hidden behind varying animal masks. With such lengths being gone to hide their full official line-up, it is bound to mean their debut is coming sometime soon. 

RBW Girls (365 Practise)

Following the success of vocal powerhouses MAMAMOO, RBW are expected to be debuting a new girl group within the next few months. Temporarily known as RBW Girls, this six-piece consists of MIXNINE contestants Lee Yesol and Jang Eunsong, Produce 48 alum Park Jieun and Na Goeun, as well as fellow trainees Yuki and Sujin. Leading up to their debut, the group have been regularly uploading dance and vocal covers to their YouTube channel 365 Practise, giving audiences a taste of what’s to come when the girls finally make their debut. 

Milkyway

Four-member girl group Milkyway are rumored to make their debut in 2020 under GG Agency. Formerly known as RoovyLette, the group consists of twins Geumju and Jinju, Sohee and former Busters member, Minjung. The group originally consisted of six members, however after three line-up changes no original members are left resulting in a rebrand of the group after RoovyLette had previously engaged in pre-debut activities and festivals. Now as Milkyway, the quartet have begun to engage in promotions and were most recently invited to perform at a military concert on December 17. They are also regularly featured on their company’s YouTube channel in vlogs, covers, appearances and more. No official date for their debut has been set, however it is looking more and more likely they will be a new name in K-Pop in 2020.

Play M Girls

Formerly known as FAVE Girls, seven-member girl group currently known as Play M Girls are set to debut in 2020 under Play M Entertainment. Despite several changes in the current line-up, the group currently consists of MIXNINE’s Soojin, Jiyoon, and Soeun, alongside fellow trainees Monday, Jihyo, Hyewon and former child actress, Jaehee. The group currently have their own YouTube channel, which is regularly updated with dance and vocal covers, including a beautiful a capella rendition of Girls Generation TTS’s “Dear Santa” and a charismatic solo dance cover of WJSN’s “As You Wish” by eldest member, Soojin. The group are expected to make their official debut in early 2020. 

VINE Girls

On December 17, 2019, VINE Entertainment announced on Instagram that not only would they be debuting their first girl group, they gave fans a countdown to the debut: D-100, meaning their debut will take place on 26 March 2020. They also posted the first official photo of the group, which is expected to include former YG trainee and Produce 48 star, Park Ginny and K-Pop Star 5 contestant Kim Denise who both posted the same cryptic teasers on their individual Instagram accounts. Currently, these are the only two trainees known to be a part of this group, and with the countdown to their debut having already begun, we are surely excited to see more of these rookies.

Mystic Story Girls

Mystic Story, a SM Entertainment subsidiary, is rumored to be another company preparing their female trainees for a 2020 debut. The company currently has several female trainees, which are all presumed members of the upcoming group. Takeuchi Miyu, former AKB48 and Produce 48 member is one of the most notable figures in the group, having left Japan to make her K-Pop debut. Other members are rumored to include MIXNINE’s Soomin, K-Pop Star’s Serim, Unpretty Rapstar 2’s Moon Sua, trainees Kim Haram, Kim Siyoon, Fukutomi Tsuki and A-Teen 2’s Kim Suhyun. Thanks to Mystic’s Listen Stages on their YouTube Channel, we are already able to see some of the incredible talent on display in this group and we sure to only see more as time goes on. 

MIDNIGHT

MIDNIGHT will be a six-member girl group under H&I Entertainment who will be making their debut in April 2020, according to their YouTube Channel. Despite having gone through several changes in their line-up, the current group consists of Danvvb, Byeoljji, Seungeun, Yunu (all above) and new additions Eungyul and Ayeon who were added to the group in December. The group consistently upload dance, rap and vocal covers on YouTube alongside fan greetings and vlogs. In their last few videos, Eungyul has not been present leaving fans to wonder whether she is still a member of the group. Whether this is the case or not, we wish all of the girls the best of luck with their upcoming debut. 

LABEL UP

LABEL UP is an upcoming girl group under Yedam Entertainment. Throughout their time as a pre-debut group, the line-up of the group has changed drastically but has now settled on five members: Seyeon, Jena, Yoowoo, Coca and Rian, with three former members now planning to debut as a trio. The group were expected to make their debut at the end of 2019, however it can be assumed that their debut has been postponed. However, with the group currently engaging in pre-debut activities in Japan, we can only hope that their future debut is on the horizon. C9 Girlz

C9 Girlz is a pre-debut group under C9 Entertainment. Starting from November 10, each member of the group was announced via social media, beginning with Jeewon, over the following week, until the full line-up was confirmed. Currently, the group consists of seven members: Chaewol, Jeewon, YeAh, Sunn, Seline, Belle and Semi. Five of the seven members (Chaewol, Jeewon, YeAh, Sunn and Belle) are former members of C9 girl group GOOD DAY and participants from survival show The Unit, and will be making their official re-debut under C9 Girlz. Their debut date is currently unknown, however due to the heavy amount of promotion and activity from the group on social media, we can expect that it will be sometime soon. 

SMNGG

It has been confirmed by SM Entertainment that 2020 will mark the debut of their latest girl group. Currently named SMNGG (or SM New Girl Group) by fans, it is speculated that the group will make their debut within the first half of 2020, which has sparked much excitement from K-Pop fans around the world. SMNGG will be the first girl group to debut under SM Entertainment since label headliners Red Velvet and would be under the same label as former K-Pop legends, Girls' Generation and f(x). The group is expected to be made up of several members of SM Rookies including Koeun, Hina, NingNing and Lami with other trainees Helen and Jimin rumored to be involved with the group. Little else is known about SM’s latest project, however we cannot wait to hear more soon!
