Throwback Thursday: Solo Dance Party

Have you been stuck at home for a while? Seen the same four walls for the last several weeks? Feeling yourself going a little stir crazy from lack of socialization? Fear not! The Kraze is here with some of K-Pop’s funkiest beats to cure even the worst cases of boredom. So as a thank you for those who are doing what they can to help by staying at home, here’s a playlist to amp up your solo dance party.

“Catallena” - ORANGE CARAMEL

Unless you’ve been living under a K-Pop rock, you probably already know ORANGE CARAMEL’s “Catallena.” Known for its quirky concept, “Catallena” is an upbeat pop track with so much disco flavor that it’s almost impossible to refrain from dancing. And yes, we know you’ve attempted the choreography.

“History” - EXO-K

Released in 2012, “History” by EXO-K (with the Chinese counterpart released by EXO-M) is a song capable of inspiring even the most unmotivated listener. On days where you feel like you just aren’t getting enough accomplished, the go-get-’em lyrics of “History” will have you putting your best foot forward...even if it is just to dance to these early career beats from EXO.

“Who’s your mama?” - J.Y. Park feat. Jessi

If anyone knows how to party in any situation, it’s Park Jinyoung. This 2015 track featuring Jessi comes from his single album 24/34. The song is classically JYP, complete with a jazz interlude and an impossibly infectious beat. With his repeated mantra of “shake that booty, that booty booty,” we’re sure JYP will have you up and dancing in no time.

“Decalcomanie” - MAMAMOO

Now that you’re up and on your feet, it’s time to grab that hairbrush and belt away, and what better song for a bedroom power anthem than MAMAMOO’s 2016 hit “Decalcomanie.” Even if the song itself isn’t one about self-empowerment, “Decalcomanie” will have you feeling like the world is at your fingertips—even if it might actually only be your hairbrush-turned-microphone.

“Abracadabra” - Brown Eyed Girls

Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra” from their 2009 album Sound G. has long since reached legendary status in K-Pop so it only makes sense that such a timeless tune is on your isolation playlist. You know the song, you know the dance, now let Brown Eyed Girls keep your energy pumping, even if it’s just while cleaning your room.
