SuperM Goes 0 to “100” in New Single
SuperM has made their long-awaited and highly anticipated return to the music industry with the pre-release track “100!” It seems like yesterday when SuperM made their debut and were touring in the United States. SM Entertainment’s super boy group has returned, this time back with a track that is even more addicting and catchy. While many can’t forget how “Jopping” took everything by storm, “100” is the perfect set up that will lead up to their full album, set to release this coming September.
“The Only Way Is Up”
After making such a strong debut, it was interesting to see what SuperM would bring to the table next, and “100” shatters all doubts and uncertainty with its high impact sound and style. One of the most iconic taglines from the supergroup is that they carry the confidence and charisma knowing that they “are the future” and they are here to stay. As teasers first dropped with the announcement of SuperM’s return (which fans knew was eventually coming earlier this year thanks to their Beyond Live online concert), fans from all over the world knew that they were going to bring the heat this summer.
“100” is all about confidence and taking it from 0 to 100 in an instant. SuperM knows that they are not going to be slowing down any time soon and will continue to trailblaze their way through the music industry. “100” drips with confidence and swagger and one cannot help but fall deep into the vocals of Taemin, Baekhyun, and Ten, the husky and smooth stylings of Lucas and Kai, and the rapid fire raps from Mark and Taeyong. “100” is a pop and EDM-heavy track, meant to get fans up and dancing along to the song. As the follow up to “Jopping,” “100” does not disappoint with its addictive and catchy quality. “100” only further sets the stage for their upcoming album.
The music video for “100” is all visuals, and it’s definitely a video that can’t be watched only once. It’s nearly a guarantee that the music video will have you smashing the replay button—so many things are happening, many will miss it the first time. From the stunning visuals of each member getting their moment to shine to the wicked choreography and set designs, it comes as no shock that they would bring another intense and energetic music video. If fans have not picked up on SuperM’s need-for-speed concept they have had going on since their debut, “100” fully brings out their love for going fast, from sets reminiscent of cargo airplanes to speeding cars to trains. The music video surely takes viewers on a ride with the SuperM members. As red is the signature color for SuperM, many will notice its presence in the member’s outfits and certain set pieces accented with red. Viewers also cannot ignore the special CG/augmented reality effects that were prominent in the “Jopping” music video being once again used in “100,” further driving the futuristic aesthetic that SuperM has going.
As “100” is the pre-release to the upcoming full album, anticipation and excitement are in full effect and are now kicked into overdrive. The bar has been set for SuperM and the pressure is definitely on to see what they have up their sleeves on September 25.
