IU Shares the Gift of Pieces
2021 has proven to be quite the year for IU. To wrap up the end of the year, IU is back with Pieces, which is described as a series of precious songs that were previously unreleased but she still wanted to share with the world. Pieces paints a picture of nostalgia and growth that is warm, comforting, and healing. Consisting of a total of five songs, this mini-album is centered around acoustic and orchestral ballads. </deck>

While there are no official music videos to accompany the album, the music is what takes center stage as the main focal point for fans young and old to enjoy from beginning to end. IU pre-released a special live video of her performing “Next Stop” that features the soloist performing on stage with just her guitar and her accompanying band. Not long after, another live performance video of “Winter Sleep” was released with the piano taking the forefront of her accompaniment. Although it’s unclear whether or not other performance videos will be released, fans will feel right at home thanks to its intimate setting. Despite the songs coming from various years, Pieces remains a cohesive masterpiece and is still in IU’s signature ballad style.
As we come to the end of the year, this particular album brings a moment of reflection to think back on the relationships built or lost or even thinking about oneself. Pieces is a heartfelt album from IU and comes as a great send off to what 2021 was and a warm embrace to what 2022 will bring.
