ONF Gives FUSE “Goosebumps”
ONF's sixth mini-album, [Goosebumps], is likely their last release before all five Korean members head out into the military; and while this news shocked FUSE through to the core, ONF has one more zap as a word of parting. Rather than a ballad as a sorrowful "until we meet again," the group capped off their ambitious decision to enlist all at once with an exciting title track that will surely leave you with the "Goosebumps" in question.
"GOOSEBUMPS”
ONF is rounding out the year with an electric culmination of their style concepts found throughout their 2021 releases. “Goosebumps” is upheld by its looped bassline and synth overlay which gets tweaked in intensity where it's due. Not only is the song hard and fast, but it's got two choruses to meet all your needs—Chorus One is extra scuzzy and harsh, and it's a great leadup to Chorus Two, which gives us a complementary Hyojin and MK vocal melody. ONF with MonoTree is a match made in production heaven as usual, and the unique power in an electronic/funk combo is really something special. With a strong, synth-laden bassline and the vocal power we've come to know and love, there's a confidence that shines through—without a hint of doubt that they'll return stronger than ever.
The music video follows suit with its futuristic setting and largely CGI backgrounds akin to ONF’s other 2021 releases. The nature of the song is communicated just as well visually with quick, snappy choreography, staticky glitch effects, and scribbly neon images flashing across the screen. “Goosebumps” is crisp in sound and imagery, and that high energy is precisely what fans need for the next year-and-a-half.
