ALICE Serves Looks and Vocals with Newest Release, “Holy Grail”
If you don’t know who ALICE is, it might be time to take a moment to learn because she’s released her newest single “Holy Grail” and it’s a grade A vibe.
First of all, the music in this track is so well done—there are so many elements that obviously combined to make a great blend for the mastered version, while simultaneously standing out on their own at certain times throughout the song. The synth opens the track before dropping out as the vocals come in with the heavy bass line, but don’t worry, it comes back to play a major part in the track; it’s so good. The clap and kick are more pronounced than they usually would be, but for a track like this, they’re perfect and they add so much character and depth. A major highlight in the song is definitely when the strings come in. They emphasize and add to the track in more ways than can even be described—without them, the track would sound so empty. Lastly, ALICE’s vocals are no joke and the way she utilized her voice for the different harmonies and adlibs was so pleasing to the ear. They’re almost hypnotizing and if you pay attention to the intonations she adds and the lyrics she’s singing, they’re even more enjoyable.
Speaking from experience, pursuing any career in the music industry is not an easy thing to do. More often than not you get looked down on, rejected, ridiculed—your dream gets disapproved of by more people than you can count, but it’s your dream.
ALICE speaks her truth through her lyrics and for some it hits close to home. “Know what I got myself into. It’s my purpose, it’s my dream, what I was born to do,” “Crumpled papers and notes sung to no crowds. Bank account hungry cus my dream too mothafuckin’ loud,” and “This shit ain’t for the weak” are some of the most impactful lines in the song because her story is relatable—that’s really how it is for a lot of people and the fact that she’s so open about the struggle will definitely be appreciated.
