Sorn Runs Towards Freedom in Her Solo Debut

Chonnasorn Sajakul, better known as Sorn, released her first-ever solo single after being active for 10 years in the industry. “Run” is a free-spirited song perfect for the spring when everything and everyone is ready to bloom. The official music video of the song also brings the viewers closer to nature, giving off a calm and warm energy. The digital single overall shows a side of CLC’s vocalist that is well known to her fans, but not always highlighted in group projects.

Run and the MV

The monochromatic teaser images, where Sorn’s silhouette was outlined by the lyrics, hinted that the digital single would be entirely in English. “Run” is a very chill, spring, acoustic pop song about running towards our freedom. The lyrics are not sulking about the hardships we go through, but simply moving on—and for once do what we want, giving a positive and happy vibe to the single.

The music video is nicely complemented with vintage warm colors and the scenery of Jeju Island, woods, aquarium, and even an animal farm. It brings a calm feeling that takes over  when we finally step out into nature and take a deep breath of fresh air. That peace of mind where you can feel the weight lifting off your shoulders—that is what this song gives to the listeners.

Sorn’s Individual Activities

This is not Sorn’s first individual project; she has been active on her own even before debuting with CLC in 2015. She won the first season of K-Pop Star Hunt in 2011 and collaborated with G.NA on "Because You Are The One” in 2012 under her current company, Cube Entertainment. Even after debuting and being active with CLC, she still focuses on being present as herself. She often appears on TV shows, YouTube, and on her own channel called Produsorn in 2019, which is a mix of her personal life and covers, while also serving as a behind-the-scenes platform for CLC. A year later, she released her own jewelry collection with Kapsul Collective, while last month she dropped a makeup collaboration with VT Cosmetics.

And if we talk about Sorn’s individual success, we can’t skip TikTok either. She even surprised the platform when many of her followers realized that she is actually an idol and not your everyday TikToker. She is very active and entertaining on the platform, making all of her 1.7 million followers feel like they are her best friends. Not to mention, this was also the platform where Sorn first hinted her solo debut—by hinted we mean she made a pretty straightforward TikTok about it.
