Mnet, the broadcast hub of survival shows, launches a brand new survival program that introduces the public to a rather compressed but remarkable world of street dance. Garnering quite some attention prior to its premiere date, Street Woman Fighter sets up a new realm within the large sphere of survival audition programs in its composition of contestants and theme.

What Makes Up the Show

Street Woman Fighter features eight distinguished female dance crews as the participants in the program. Representative of South Korea and eminent in the circle, the crews and a few individuals in particular have a well-established standing amongst avid fans; on the other hand, some teams consist of a combination of dancers who do not belong to a specific crew, bringing about the chance for viewers to compare various stylistic dance techniques.

The show adopts a system of an appointed leader, or main dancer, existing in each pod. Even so, every single contestant makes a significant contribution regardless of the degree of impact to create an air of creativity through their improvisation of movements.

The atmosphere retains tension at the level of full capacity, intensifying the act of getting absorbed into the dance battles. In spite of these looking rather intimidating and nerve-wracking, various moments that make the show up reveal an artistic discourse full of creativity and inspiration.

Welcome the Participants on Street Woman Fighter

A wide spectrum of dancers are featured into crews; separating performers into branches of pods, it is quite heartwarming to see the sense of community and value that arise among the fierce competition.

Former WANNA ONE member and current solo artist Kang Daniel takes the spot as the host on Street Woman Fighter. With diminishing opportunities to perform street dance in his old b-boy days, the singer once again cultivates his dancing spirit for street dance as he oversees the competitive rivalry led by the remarkable performers on the show.

Three individuals—performer director Hwang Sanghoon, K-Pop legend BoA, and NCT's main dancer Taeyong—spotlighted for their dance take the seats as the judge panel for the show. Despite the debate on the so-called qualifications of the two expert, but non-professional performers in the K-Pop industry, it seems like a good choice to wait and see how the panel will bring upon constructive criticism and objective standings for the good of every participant.

Now back to the participants; a total of eight teams with a varying number of dancers make up the contestant population of over 40 members. The crews are comprised of a brilliant group of performers who gift the audience with surely impressive moves.

CocaNButter, featuring Rihey, GAGA, BICKI, ZSUN, and jillin, strives for the traditional girls hip-hop style dance, radiating an irreplaceable balance of energy through the smallest yet most detailed movements. The crew’s growing presence in the street dance scene is enough to say about the members’ boundless energy and possible room for improvement.

YG Entertainment's very own performance crew––YGX, or also referred to as the new street generation––also makes its appearance on the stage of Street Woman Fighter. Composed of Leejung Lee, Yeojin, Isak, Jihyo, and the internationally recognized b-girl Yell, YGX aims to weave in the dynamic stylistic elements of girlish and breakdance to the team.

LACHICA is a center that brings together performance queens and star choreographers. Gabee, Rian, Siamese, H_1, and Peanut rewrite the significance of scripts, opening up windows of creativity through themselves, each other, and other participants.

The crew PROWDMON embraces the confidence and pride that these female dancers embrace as a performer and as someone who identifies themselves as a woman. The collaboration of Monika, Dia, Rosy, Lip J, Kayday, Ham.G, and Hyeily is what brings the extraordinary force of woman power to the show.

HOOK is introduced as a global street dance crew led by global dance star Aiki and followed by Rageon, Yoonkyung Seon, Jiyeon Sung, Odd, BORN, and Hyowoo. The crew is expected to continue the carriage of spreading the irresistible passion and spirit to the audience.

WAYB is made of many rookies in the world of street dance or simply dance on a broader scale. Noze, who went viral for her stage performance with EXO’s Kai, takes up the spot as the main dancer; Gyurian, Dolla, and Leesu integrate into the crew and highlight their own skills through stylish and modern movements.

Renowned choreographer Hyojin Choi and IZ*ONE’s main dancer Lee Chayeon are part of the WANT crew along with members Rozalin, Moana, and Emma. Together, the five dancers stand to entrance viewers and fellow performers alike with their delicate yet powerful choreography.

HolyBang appears as the final crew introduced in the show. Taking up its concept of refined charisma and elegant power, Honey J guides the vibe of girl-crush swag among dancers Lo-A, Mull, BELLE, EEVEE, JANE, TARO, and Hertz

Overall, each pod is distinct from the other, and the chemistry and synergy that arise from individuals in the same team are incredible and more than awe-striking. After all, the greatest perk of viewing Street Woman Fighter is having the opportunity to be blown away by the incredible performances of the diversely talented group.

In essence, Street Woman Fighter is shining the limelight onto the contestants who are, in a sense, representing the overarching community of dancers both domestically and internationally.
