AleXa Expresses Heartbreak in "Tattoo"

Virtual warrior princess AleXa is back, showing a softer side of her multiverse avatar. With her latest single titled “Tattoo,” AleXa’s A.I. develops human emotions like love and heartbreak that have yet to disappear, changing how she sees the world in her universe.

It’s been six months since AleXa’s last comeback with her July 2021 single album ReviveR  featuring the Y2K-inspired title track “Xtra.” You can read about the single and music video here

“Tattoo,” a dreamy and emotional English track, details the emotions that AleXa develops from heartbreak. Composed and arranged by Alexej Viktorovitch of the Stockholm-based music production duo JeL, who produced AleXa’s debut single “Bomb,” the track breaks down how AleXa’s A.I. develops human emotions despite being an emotionless avatar. In an interview with The Korea Times, she stated that her avatar “...happens to find a stopgap solution to feel human emotions…she falls in love with a man, but soon breaks up and returns to her original status.” She goes on to say that “...even after losing her emotions, AleXa cannot completely get rid of them, as if these feelings are still engraved in her mind like tattoos." Aside from the connection to her A.I. universe, the lyrics are heartbreaking, pairing well with her groovy and soft vocals. “Tattoo” gives AleXa the chance to showcase her vocals, with multiple high falsetto notes that are beautiful to listen to. Seeing as this will connect with her A.I. multiverse timeline, there’s more to come about her avatar’s ventures.

The video is a cinematic experience, taking in the popular sights of California like Los Angeles, the Santa Monica Pier, and Joshua Tree National Park. AleXa gives a visual experience of the emotions she thought she was rid of as an avatar, but they’ve remained as tattoos, as shown in the music video. Whether she’s walking through the streets or pondering on a building rooftop, it’s clear that her avatar self is trying to cope with human emotions. Wearing outfits that have a rock and edgy touch like a Slipknot band t-shirt, red skirt, and a chic black bodysuit, AleXa doesn’t shy away from fashionable statement pieces from the U.S. After the credits roll out, there’s a short sneak preview of what’s to come for AleXa: it appears she’ll be enduring a face-to-face battle where she’ll become a warrior. The foreshadowing of what’s to come in her multiverse timeline is certain to bring anticipation in 2022. AleXa can take any concept and make it her own, boasting her unique and creative storyline that has us wanting more each comeback.
