Winter Is Coming
Brrr, December has finally arrived! As we enter the final month of 2022, we're just eight days away from the first day of winter! Whether you enjoy ballads or Christmas-themed anthems, there's a winter-inspired hit out there for everyone to enjoy. Let's take a look at a few songs that get us in the mood for the cold, winter season!
“Dear My Winter” by Chuu & George
Just a few days ago, Chuu (previously of LOONA) released a warm Christmas single titled "Dear My Winter" featuring South Korean R&B singer George. The track is part of a series of songs released for Lotte's Song For You. A very comforting duet, it brings back the familiar and nostalgic memories of the holiday season. Even though it's been a difficult time for her, we're glad to see and hear Chuu showcase her vocals in a seasonal hit like this. It makes me want to get cozy by the fire with a blanket and hot chocolate.
"SNOW" by Moonbyul
Sometimes wintertime isn't about the holiday spirit — it's a time to reflect a bit on the year. Moonbyul's "SNOW" brings out that evocative feeling. The temperature is getting colder, the year is coming to an end, and we're preparing for what's to come in 2023. It's an excellent track that showcases Moonbyul's hauntingly beautiful vocals in a soothing soundscape.
"Doughnut" by TWICE
You can't think of winter without the TWICE track "Doughnut." Yes, I know the song is not in Korean, but the 2021 Japanese single cannot be skipped this season. When this song came out, admit it — you became obsessed with it, too. Every time I hear the chorus, I teleport to the music video and lay in the snow making snow angels.
"snowy night" by Billlie
Looking for something different this winter? Look no further than the adventurous lore found in "snowy night" by Billlie. By blending their respective lore for the group and adding a winter-inspired narrative, it's a different perspective I've never heard before. I personally enjoy the music video because of the intriguing storyline that Billlie creates for winter.
"In The Frozen" by Dreamcatcher
The eerie and mysterious sounds of winter are not forgotten. The cold season is not always upbeat, especially when we listen to "In The Frozen" by Dreamcatcher. The entirety of the track feels like a trek through the mountains, pushing back against a heavy snowstorm to get to your destination. "In The Frozen" is a masterpiece, with its wistful ambiance that leaves you with goosebumps.
"Funky Glitter Christmas" by NMIXX
I'm a sucker for fun Christmas songs that bring out the joyous spirit inside our hearts. NMIXX puts a sparkle into the holiday with their song "Funky Glitter Christmas." It's an adorable Christmas track that is different from the typical remakes and covers. Despite Jinni recently leaving the group, we hope this song can be a pleasant memory for everyone to enjoy this holiday season.
