An Introduction to Stanning K-Pop

When you’re first diving into the world of K-Pop, it can be super overwhelming. Knowing where to start seems like an impossible decision, so here’s a guide on good places to start!

YouTube

YouTube is going to be your best friend when stanning a new group. Between music videos, music show performances, variety shows, and more, there’s plenty of content to watch!

Spotify/Apple Music

One of the first things I did when diving into K-Pop was going to a group’s Spotify page to listen to their top songs. This is a great place to start so you can get a taste of the music a group makes and pick your favorites! It’s best to either start with the top tracks or the group’s most recent release.

V LIVE

The V LIVE app is a necessity! Idols go live for their birthdays, after performances, and sometimes just for fun to engage with fans. It’s fun to watch groups live and see what they get up to just sitting in front of a camera. Make sure to have notifications on so you don’t miss out!

Weverse & Universe

Weverse and Universe are two apps that numerous groups use to post updates for fans as well as respond to fan comments and messages. Both apps have certain features for free and others available through subscription—usually the fan club. If you’re mostly looking for posts and updates, you don’t have to worry about paying for anything.

Twitter

Twitter is fun as a K-Pop stan, especially as you start learning groups and making friends! Twitter is more for meeting people who like the same groups as you, but it can also help with finding more content you hadn’t seen before!

The more you dive into K-Pop, the more fun it is! There’s always something out there for you to enjoy. Happy stanning!
