VIVIZ Articulate Seasonal Love in Summer Vibe
Returning five months after re-debuting as a trio, VIVIZ expresses numerous facets of summer in their sophomore mini-album Summer Vibe, featuring their sugary title track “LOVEADE.” In search of expanding their musical journey in the 20-minute album, the bubbly trio has the perfect ingredients to describe the summer season that matches their artistic sound: energizing and rejuvenating.
Summer Vibe dropped after the trio competed on Mnet’s female idol competition program Queendom 2 and performed “Red Sun!” for the finale. In addition to this, the three-piece act performed their debut single “Bop Bop!” on the GRAMMY Global Spin video series, making VIVIZ the first K-Pop girl group to ever appear on the show.

"LOVEADE"
With a funky retro pop-based fusion dance track, “LOVEADE” is light to digest with a sound that’s similar to sweet ‘90s love songs. Featuring composers DEEZ, SAAY, and Hwang Yoobin, the single compares a couple’s love to a refreshing ice cold ade beverage. With gushy lyrics that don't hide a liken to fall in love, VIVIZ has a way to make a warm day feel refreshing. The line in the song where they sing, “Mix your tranquil heart, feel my throbbing heart, when you shake and hit my heart, I'm excited enough to tickle like sparkling,” you can feel the youthful romance in the air. Their airy and dulcet vocals make the hook in the chorus pleasing to the ears, increasing its replayability. If you aren’t sold on “LOVEADE,” it’s time to open your heart to the bouncy atmosphere that VIVIZ has created for the summer.
The new video begins with a close-up of a man shot by multiple cupid’s arrows in search of what’s on a flier: an ice cold loveade. As each member of VIVIZ enjoys practicing their summertime hobbies—Eunha practicing dance, SinB preparing to open her beach food truck, and Umji practicing her archery skills—they encounter issues that lead them to feel confused about their effort. All of a sudden, a happy face yellow balloon in the shape of a heart appears and encourages the girls to be playful during the summer season despite any obstacles they encounter. The light summer vibes and overall atmosphere will make you excited to go outside and enjoy the sunny days of the hot season. Ending the video on a sweet note, the girls find the man with arrows shot through him, offering him their special ice loveade. Even when things go wrong, nothing satisfies more than a cool drink to match the energy VIVIZ exudes in the music video.
B-Sides
Transporting listeners with more ‘90s-inspired sounds with upbeat bass riffs, “SIESTA” is a groovy track that’ll make you want to move your body. Composed by Tommy Park, Antti Oikarinen, Lee Seuran, Andreas Öberg, and Maria Marcus, the word “siesta” is a Spanish word that translates to “an afternoon rest or nap, especially one taken during the hottest hours of the day in a hot climate,” which is fitting for the summer season. Seeing as VIVIZ repeats the line, “Baby, you're my, you're my siesta,” it seems that they are comparing the love of someone special to a nap. While that could easily be lost in translation, it’s assumed given the atmosphere that it's a romantic retro song for the summer.
It’s time to get the party started with the up-tempo pop song aptly named “Party Pop.” Composed by Caroline Gustavsson, Cho Yoonkyung, Joe Chen, and AVENUE 52, the focus is on the dance floor to forget your worries or problems of daily life. In the chorus, it’s as if there’s a bit of city pop influence in the sound, opening up a refreshing environment that’s familiar in K-Pop. VIVIZ repeats the line, “Shake it, shake it, shake it up right now, turn the music up,” to encourage everyone to come to the dance floor. There’s nothing stopping listeners from having a good time this summer.
The deep-house tune “Love Love Love” is an obvious love song, based on the title alone—but you knew that already. Written by C’SA and dani, “Love Love Love” takes you on a familiar adventure of an innocent seasonal romance. If there was a way to visualize what the song makes you feel, it’s the fluttering feelings of a summer love you’ll want to remember forever. Don’t let the moment end just because it’s temporary; make them yours this summer.
An old-school R&B single composed by DEEZ, Daniel “Obi” Klein, Charli Taft, and Ellie Suh, “#FLASHBACK” will take you on a trip down memory lane. There’s something hauntingly beautiful about it that makes us want to slow dance with a special someone. Composed by Hwang Hyun and Park Kitae, the song is light as a feather with idyllic vocals that emphasize VIVIZ’s impressive range. The harmonies that are built in the track are entrancing at first impression, looking to put you in an amorous trance. With stories of summer love, the trio are aware of what true love feels like and want to share it with those who have yet to feel this sentiment.
