Girl Group Reunions in 2022 We Loved

As the years pass, K-Pop fans continuously remain hopeful to see groups that either disbanded or on hiatus reunite on stage someday. We saw a few returns last year with groups like T-ARA, AFTER SCHOOL, I.O.I, etc. Now in 2022, we’ve witnessed four spectacular reunions that will warm your heart and fill you with endless memories.

SISTAR

The second generation “Queens of Summer,” SISTAR reunited on Yu Huiyeol’s Sketchbook for the show’s 600th and final episode. In their surprising reunion onJuly 22, the quartet performed a medley of their iconic hits like “Alone,” “Loving U,” “SHAKE IT,” and “Touch My Body.” As the program holds a special memory for SISTAR for always being their first stage in group promotions, it was a lasting moment to come together once more. The quartet also reunited to dance to Hyolyn’s “NO THANKS” for her TikTok challenge

2NE1

In an unforgettable moment in history, 2NE1 made an astounding and emotional reunion at Coachella in April. As CL was featured in the lineup for 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Forever set, she took this opportunity to bring the quartet on stage together for the first time in over six years. The last time all four members performed together as a group was at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards, which makes this 2022 performance even more significant to their continuous popularity over the years. Performing their classic hit “I Am The Best,” it was a beautiful full-circle moment that BLACKJACKs have waited for.

Girls’ Generation

Celebrating their fifteenth anniversary and reflecting on their incredible career as the nation’s girl group, Girls’ Generation reunited to release their seventh full-length album FOREVER 1. Their reunion was easily one of the most anticipated and nostalgic. With 10 new songs and a refreshing concept that reminds us of their legacy and impact, it’s impossible to not feel touched by their impressive album. Despite focusing on their respective solo careers in music or acting, it’s a lovely display to see these second-generation ladies return to the stage.

EXID

Celebrating their tenth anniversary, the quintet EXID reunited for a special broadcast titled “WE ARE EXID” through NAVER NOW on August 13. The charismatic girl group has been on hiatus since May 2019 but it’s exciting to see they came together for a special day. During the online broadcast, the girls performed a dance medley of hits like “Up & Down,” “Hot Pink,” and “I Love You.” The quintet also performed the song “Every Night,” an underrated hit from 2012 that will always showcase the colors of EXID. One surprise during the broadcast came when they sang a snippet of a potential song in the works called “LEGGO” (though it is not the confirmed title).

Let’s remain hopeful for more legendary girl group reunions before the year ends and the next year! It’s always a nostalgic and beautiful memory to see K-Pop groups from previous generations come together for a big or small reunion. Who do you want to see reunite in the coming year?
