Seven Moments at EVERGLOW New York That Won’t Be Forgotten

EVERGLOW forever let’s go!” will be echoing in your ears and at the tip of your tongue if you get a chance to catch a stop on their current tour. The sextet has been active with their latest album, a stop at KCON LA last summer and their current ALL MY GIRLS Tour. The six member group that includes E:U, Sihyeon, Mia, Onda, Aisha, and Yiren, presented a powerhouse show at King’s Theater on November 3, demonstrating their range of vocals, choreography, charm, and heartfelt emotions that made us all fall head over heels. We’ll share with you seven moments, in no particular order, that captured the essence of EVERGLOW in New York.

1.Sihyeon and Mia’s vocals in “Hush.” Though the team has other good vocalists, these two in particular would stand out throughout the show, not only with the range of their voices, but the quality of their vocal tones as well. In “Hush” they complement each other and as the song was slower and sung seated, there was more focus on vocals which really made this duo shine.

2. Cover Dance Medley. We’ve seen covers, dance games, dance covers, but it’s rare to see a dance cover medley that celebrates more girl groups than boys. Though we love boy groups, and they did include SEVENTEEN’s “Super,” it was great to see a group dance to mostly girl group songs. Spanning a range of songs from NewJeans’ “Super Shy” to (G)I-DLE’s “Queencard” to BLACKPINK’s “BOOMBAYAH,” their smooth moves and seamless choreography brought the songs to life that had everyone in the theater singing along.

3. The unit stages of Sihyeon and Mia brought down the house. Sihyeon’s solo was a cover of Beyoncé’s “Love on Top,” which showcased her fabulous voice and her elegance. She graced the stage in flowy black and filled the theater with her voice. Moving to cheers that filled the room, all eyes were on her and she killed it. Mia came out in a dress shirt that had her name graffitied on it while she sang Stela Cole’s “I Shot Cupid.” Her deep vocals as she navigated the stage had everyone enthralled. There’s no denying that these are the powerhouse vocals of EVERGLOW.

4. Their teamwork and support. Even from the start of the show with their introductions, you could see how close the team was. From the introductions, when Aisha had issues with her wrist splint due to her injury, Sihyeon helped fix it with Mia making hearts to the crowd to divert our focus. But the awareness wasn’t only with each other. When there was a small moment of confusion before “Pirate” began, the ladies in the dark waved, smiled, and interacted with the crowd who could see them. The professionalism and ability to support each other made the team tighter and made the theater seem that much more intimate a setting.

5. Though many songs come accompanied by great fan chants that FOREVERs (their fandom) know in depth, “LA DI DA” has a special spot in many hearts and the fanchants in New York were no joke. Fans followed along to every “sorry, sorry,” “don’t bring me down,”  “LA DI DA DA DA,” and of course the “EVERGLOW FOREVER Let’s Go!”

6. Sometimes encores end up with the most special moments. At EVERGLOW in New York with “Back Together,” this became one of those special moments. With all the members standing in front singing, all the cell phone lights went on around the theater. Their voices with the swaying glow of the lights created a touching and memorable moment for everyone there.

7. Last but not least was the heart-breaking goodbye final ment, not only because the show was ending, but because they had given their hearts and everything they had, yet they felt that they wanted to give even more. Though most of the members could be seen trying to hold back tears, Sihyeon and Aisha couldn't keep them from flowing. Aisha, with her injury, wore a splint and at times adjusted her choreo, but you could hardly tell; still, her frustration hit at the heart of fans as tears ran down her face. Sihyeon, overcome with emotion at finally being back together with FOREVERs or feeling her team member’s frustration, joined with the tears. The tears became a bonding moment though, as everyone felt and connected with the raw emotions which were so open and heartfelt. It became a large hug between FOREVER and EVERGLOW that every fan will hold close to their hearts.

Thank you to Yuehua Entertainment, Helix Publicity, and mostly to EVERGLOW for allowing us to be part of this tour. Make sure to catch them if they come your way, as the show is not one to be missed.
