When BLACKPINK Visited Buckingham Palace

BLACKPINK stuns on royal grounds as they make a surprise visit to London on a state visit November 21.

The quartet accompanied South Korean President Yoon Sukyeol and First Lady Kim Keonhee on a state visit to the UK for a banquet held at Buckingham Palace—hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla. All four members, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa were appointed as Honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire at the event.

What BLACKPINK Wore

Attending royal affairs at the capital meant that modest designer wear is a must! Each of the member’s individual traits and styles were taken into account when deciding what they would be adorned in for such an event.

It’s no mistake that the members would be styled in the respective brands of which they are ambassadors. Jisoo wore a Dior coordinating set, with the cinched-in waist of the jacket held together by a butterfly buckle belt paired with the brand’s midi skirt. During the event’s banquet, we see her again in a classy all-black dress featuring puffed shoulders and ruffles from top to bottom.

Chanel girl Jennie was styled in the brand’s midi dress with unique silver details in the buttons and pockets, paired with a matching cropped jacket and leather heels. Indoors we see her adorned in an off-the-shoulder Lihi Hod gown with a train that could go on for days.

Rosé’s personal style peeped through as she opted for a Saint Laurent plaid suit, featuring padded shoulders and a black bowed blouse underneath. Later on we see her in an all-black strapless dress with a bow in her hair tying the look together.

The group’s youngest member Lisa represented her country by wearing the Thai brand ASAVA, with a strapless dress from their Autumn/Winter 2023 collection topped off with a matching cape. We later see her in a George Hobeika cape dress that switches out the neutrals with a soft pop of color. The brand known for its beading did not fail to wow many online.

What was the Reason Behind the State Visit?

The banquet held by the UK’s royal family was to welcome South Korean President Yoon Sukyeol and First Lady Kim Keonhee to the country. On this occasion, BLACKPINK were also invited to visit.
The four-member girl group were appointed by the UK government in 2021 as COP26 Advocates, where their main role was to spread the knowledge of the growing issue of climate change and the effects it was having in the world. Through this, BLACKPINK drew in the attention of a younger audience and brought engagement to the COP26 UN Conference held in Glasgow.

In honor of the group’s work, BLACKPINK were made Honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire, with Rosé receiving the full recognition as a national of New Zealand, which is still within Commonwealth realms.
