Interview: Holidays & More with VANNER’s Taehwan and Gon

After recently releasing their holiday cover of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” VANNER’s Taehwan and Gon discuss their latest release, 2024 goals for themselves and VANNER, and their favorite winter things. Keep reading below to see what they had to say!

Q: Congratulations on the release of your latest single! What made you decide to cover “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey?

Taehwan: We had sung “All I Want For Christmas Is You” before our debut, and we remembered that our fans really liked it back then. So we thought it would be great to release the song this time. 

Q: What inspired you to release a song for the holidays/Christmas?

Gon: We wanted to use this opportunity to give VVS special memories as a gift.  

Q: What does this song mean to you?

G: I think it’s a new experience and also a challenge at the same time. 

Q: You’ve recently participated and won during the show PEAK TIME, what has your experience since winning been like and getting to greet fans?

TH: Since winning on PEAK TIME, I’ve been experiencing the things I wanted to do one by one. Such as working on a new album, doing fan concerts, and I was so grateful that VVS said that they were thankful that we hung in there and stayed on stage. 

Q: Is there another holiday/Christmas-themed song that you’d like to recreate?

TH: Frozen OST, “Into The Unknown.”

G: Sia’s “Snowman.”

Q: We wish that all of the VANNER members could participate in this project. What kinds of Christmas/Holiday songs do you think VANNER as a whole group would come out with?

A: Bobby Helms’s “Jingle Bell Rock.”

Q: What does Christmas/the holidays mean to you?

TH: I think it’s a time to make good memories with loved ones. 

G: I think it’s a day to make happy memories with loved ones. 

Q: How do you plan to celebrate the holidays this year?

TH: I think we will be spending time with VVS. 

Q: What are your wishes and goals for 2024 for yourself and VANNER as a group?

TH: I would like to grow as an artist who performs better and better personally and also as a group. 

G: I would like to do various music and I would like to do VANNER’s solo concerts. 

Q: Can we expect more VANNER music soon? If so, are you able to give your fans a hint for what to expect?

G: We will be coming back very soon and I think we will be able to show you an even better performance than we had before. 

Winter Lighting Round

Q: Since it is winter time, what is a drink or food that brings you comfort during the season? (example: hot chocolate, soup)

TH: Hot Milk Tea

G: Spicy chicken stir-fry (Dak bokkeumtang)

Q: What is a must-do activity in the snow?

TH: Making a Snow duck, Taking photos.

G: Going to the ski resort, building a snowman.

Q: Snowboarding or skiing?

A: We’re both snowboarders. 

Q: Ice Skating or Hockey?

TH: I haven’t experienced both skating and hockey.

G: I prefer skating. 

Q: Heated Floors or Heated Blanket?

A: Heated Floors. 

Q: What is a must-have accessory that you cannot leave the house without during winter?

TH: Hand warmer, masks.

G: Muffler, gloves.
