VIVIZ Shows Versatility with Third Mini-Album VarioUS

Following the refreshing release of “LOVEADE” last summer, the trio of Eunha, SinB, and Umji–also known as VIVIZ–returns with a bold image in their third mini-album VarioUS that is led by sassy title track “PULL UP.” The track is described as a chic pop number with brass sounds and confident lyrics. The girls also got to showcase their beautiful lower registers in this funky number. VIVIZ once again gives fans a look at a different side to what they can offer and are capable of as versatile artists.

“PULL UP” is reminiscent of the early 2010s brass-and-horn sound often used by girl groups like EXID and LADIES’ CODE in their catchy iconic bops. The trumpet-filled instrumentation makes for a fun listening experience that leaves one head-nodding when you start to feel the song’s exciting beat. During their album showcase in Seoul on January 31, Eunha explained in the press conference that their title track is, “a song about getting cute, satisfying revenge on people who talk about you behind your back,” as reported by Korea Joongang Daily. “I think a lot of people can relate, and we hope this song feels like we’re throwing a satisfying punch for them.” Likewise, the music video shows off the girls’ clear confidence as they strut, pose, dance, and look absolutely gorgeous throughout the three minutes.

“Stop pretending like you know me and predict me however you want / Saying with such a shameless tone that you’re worried of me / Pardon but who are you again?”

The rest of the album contains quality B-sides that prove VIVIZ’s music must be explored through and through, not just their title tracks. “Blue Clue” is a snappy number with a jazzy pre-chorus breakdown, addictive whistle, and hand-snap sounds. “Love or Die” leans toward a tropical beat that features bold lyrics. “Vanilla Sugar Killer” possesses an R&B synth sound with a rhythmic chorus that is super catchy and gets stuck in your head after a single listen. Dreamy and breezy “Overdrive” seemingly came straight out of an ‘80s city pop essential catalog, and “So Special” wraps up the mini-album with a lighthearted mood.
