The VarioUS Sides of VIVIZ

A year into their relaunched careers, VIVIZ —  Eunha, SinB, and Umji —  proves that their musicality continues to evolve. Each release helps carve the ongoing transformation of their identity. From the bright, poppy introduction of “BOP BOP!” to the mature, cool vibe of “PULL UP,” VIVIZ displays a diverse palette of performances, and their other songs follow suit in variety. This list of five songs from VIVIZ’s discography serves as a small sampler of what the trio of experienced rookies offers.

“Mirror”

Sometimes mirrors fail to showcase one’s happiest moments.

Off their first EP Beam Of Prism, “Mirror” delves into the contemplative nature of life’s pathways. The ballad, composed by EastWest and YOSKE, takes listeners down an emotional journey backed with orchestral elements. Like looking into a mirror, personal introspection reflects the self. Emotions underneath the surface emerge in moments of solitude. It serves as a perfect finisher for the group’s first foray in the industry as a trio.

“Red Sun!”

VIVIZ revived an old, yet new song in “Red Sun!”

Performed during the final round of Mnet’s Queendom 2, “Red Sun!” showcases the jovial, jazzy side of VIVIZ. “Red Sun!” comes from the mind of Noh Joohwan, a composer responsible for later GFRIEND hits such as “Time for the Moon Night” and “Sunrise.” Although originally a GFRIEND title track contender, the members also considered it for a unit release. As many guessed, this trio consisted of Eunha, SinB, and Umji.

One way or another, “Red Sun!” eventually made its way to listeners.

“SIESTA”

Despite the Spanish word “siesta” meaning an afternoon nap, VIVIZ trades relaxing on the beach for the dance floor.

“SIESTA” embodies the summer vibes that VIVIZ’s second EP holds. Like “LOVEADE,” “SIESTA” describes overwhelming romantic feelings under the summer weather. In this B-side, VIVIZ follows a high-energy and refreshing environment. The person that they love serves as their “siesta,” their moment of solace. Composers Tommy Park, Antti Oikarinen, Andreas Öberg, and Maria Marcus made sure to imbue “SIESTA” with a fun punchiness associated with summer.

“Overdrive”

Let VIVIZ take you on a musical experience filled with three-and-a-half minutes of chill bliss.

Composed by FLUM3N, Maria Marcus, and Will!, VIVIZ explores the city (pop) in “Overdrive.” The dreamy, low key vibes make “Overdrive” the perfect song for late evening listening. The soft yearning for a romantic escape allows for a relaxing atmosphere. Try turning this song on the next time you find yourself driving through the city at night.

“Love or Die”

“You can do better than that,” VIVIZ challenges in “Love or Die.”

Another song from their most recent EP, “Love or Die” describes a fracturing relationship. Unlike other romance-centered songs of their discography, VIVIZ moves out of infatuation and into incompatibility. They take control in this R&B-influenced track composed by Charli Taft, Daniel “Obi” Klein, and Andreas Öberg. When it comes to doing better, VIVIZ sets a high standard.

Three EPs in, VIVIZ keep delivering bop after bop. Listeners can enjoy lively tracks from Beam Of Prism and Summer Vibes or opt for more laid-back yet fierce tones with VarioUS
