The Glorious Return of ODD EYE CIRCLE

For fans of LOONA, the future of the members has been uncertain for a very long time, ever since Chuu was kicked from the group. Chuu’s removal kickstarted a whole debacle for Blockberry Creative that ultimately lead to the disbandment of LOONA as the members won their lawsuits, and since then the future of each of the members has been somewhat uncertain. In the past when there’s been lawsuits of this scale, we see either the total loss of artists’ careers or a big gap in between returns, at least in most cases. On top of that, there’s a whole legal process on who owns the rights to all sorts of things, including group name and song credit rights.

As the dust begins to settle, we’ve seen the first return of some of the LOONA members in the form of new group ARTMS, but more specifically the beloved ODD EYE CIRCLE consisting of Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Cheorry. The trio originally debuted as a LOONA subunit in 2016, the second of three subunits before the groups’ full debut. Mini-album ODD EYE CIRCLE <Version Up> is now our first taste of this new era as ARTMS.

Title track “Air Force One'' is a catchy pop track with a house beat base reminiscent of popular EDM tracks in the early 2000s. The upbeat melody and fast paced tempo make the song addicting and exciting, and the vocals of each of the members really shines alongside this genre. The repetition of the chorus is bound to get stuck in your head upon first listen. As for the music video, we see the trio dressed as secret agents attending a fancy party. There’s more action than you’d expect, and the modified suit outfits are a fresh concept. The monochrome tone of their outfits contrast the reds and oranges of a late night city setting to create a unique narrative that is very reminiscent of old LOONA releases.
