WEi Takes Us On A Tropical Getaway In “질주(OVERDRIVE)”

Summer is in full swing as we move into July, and what better way to celebrate than by taking a beach vacation? In their new comeback, WEi takes us along with them on a dream tropical vacation alongside an upbeat pop track perfect for the season. “질주(OVERDRIVE)” marks the group's comeback with their sixth mini-album Love Pt. 3 : Eternally.

“질주(OVERDRIVE)” is a classic pop track with a bright and upbeat melody and a nice buildup in the pre-chorus to the light drop. What makes it stand out immediately is the interesting accidental use in the vocals in the chorus, which is rather unexpected and adds a layer to the classic pop sound. It can be a little jarring at first, but overall it adds a bit of flair to the melody. The driving beat keeps the energy up in the track all the way through.

Nothing will make you yearn for a vacation more than this music video. Shot in a beautiful sunny tropical location, we see the boys enjoying their time together on the beach, in a boat, and poolside, all places we wish we were at the moment. The carefree and boyish charms of the members shine through in this music video, accompanied by lighthearted choreography that brings the whole concept together. In many ways “질주(OVERDRIVE)” reminds me of ATEEZ’s “Wave,” which is the type of concept we definitely need more of.
