EL7Z UP Are Feeling “CHEEKY” In Anticipated Debut

The winning lineup from Mnet’s reality competition show, Queendom Puzzle, made their debut as EL7Z UP with their first mini-album 7+UP with the title track “CHEEKY” on September 14! The group is made up of seven members from past and present girl groups including Yeoreum from WJSN, Kei from Lovelyz, Yeeun from CLC, Yeonhee from Rocket Punch, Nana from woo!ah!, Hwiseo from H1-KEY, and Yuki from PURPLE K!SS. Yeoreum was chosen as the leader of the group. The name of the group is pronounced like “else up” and is supposed to be the word “puzzle” backwards with the seven representing the second Z as well as the number of members.

The group was formed on Mnet's Queendom Puzzle which aired from June 13 to August 15. Before this show, Kei was on the first season of Queendom with Lovelyz, and Yeoreum appeared on the second season with WJSN where they would win at the end. Queendom Puzzle featured 28 idols who competed to be in what was called the super group. The finale announced the lineup for the group as well as the anticipated September debut date.

“CHEEKY” is the title track from the group’s first mini album, and it’s a fun and upbeat debut track! The girls really showcase their talent and stage presence they’ve had in the industry throughout the music video, especially in their synchronization in the choreography. The lyrics convey a confidence in the girls that show they’re going to go their own path despite others’ opinions. The song is catchy from the first listen and features fun bass instrumentals throughout the verses. The music video goes from dark to colorful aesthetics going back and forth matching the vibes of the verses and the chorus. It’s a great debut to blend idols from both the third and fourth generations.

7+UP has five songs alongside the title track including “Die For You,” “Undercover,” “Hideaway” and “Cloud 9.” We have a lot to look forward to with this group!
