KINGDOM’s Grand America Tour Takes the Crown in Ft. Worth
Due to the nature of KINGDOM’s royal concept and its extensive lore, something almost magical surrounds their being as a group. This magic isn’t contained to the conceptual realm, though—wherever Dann, Arthur, Mujin, Louis, Ivan, Hwon, and Jahan are, the magic follows.
Come September 20, it was Ft. Worth, Texas’s turn to be enchanted by the group’s very first tour, the Grand America Tour. Though the 90-degree Fahrenheit temperature plagued Kingmakers (the group’s fan name) as they waited in line, even the Texan heat couldn’t compare to the heat KINGDOM would bring to the stage that night.
They took attendees on a journey through the six kingdoms they’ve introduced thus far, through performances of their title tracks (“Excalibur,” “KARMA,” “Black Crown,” “Ascension,” “Long Live the King,” and “Dystopia”) spread out across their two hour concert. Though KINGDOM shines brightly in any circumstance, they show how well they command the stage especially through their title tracks. These are songs of royalty, equipped with intense, precise choreography, and captivating melodies.
In the midst of a talking break, the group took some time to set the scene for their upcoming comeback, during which the seventh and final king Jahan, will step into the spotlight. They happily told stories of filming their music video in the desert, before moving on to further performances.
Outside of their title tracks, the group showed their collective vocal prowess with “Song of the Wind” and “Period,” then got the crowd bopping to the sultry “Love Is Pain.” Showing that their skill isn’t limited to their own songs, they followed with covers of Stray Kids’ “Thunderous” and “CASE 143,” and Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” When it was time to wrap up the night with an encore, they did so with the touching “ON AIR” and boisterous “Blinder.”
When the night was through, KINGDOM had given their all to everything they were there to give—their eyes held just as much fire upon performing as they did wonderment while gazing at their Kingmakers.
They came, they saw, they conquered, and they yeehaw-ed.
